I don't understand the emphasis at the end of the video on aligning the Y rail with the 1st mirror beam reflection, as the 1st mirror can be aligned so the laser beam can get parallel to the Y rail whatever is its orientation.

How did you by pass the reverse alignment tool battery??
@jcbigdaddy9901 Жыл бұрын
Build a 'pack' out of 3 batteries (AA or AAA) wired in series so as to create a 4.5vdc power pack. [+ TO - TO + ] = positive lead [- TO + TO -] = negative lead The barrel of the alignment laser is + or positive. The inner laser led is - or negative. Use jumper cables and connect the negative lead to the inner led. Connect the positive cable to any screw on the machines laser carriage.

@@jcbigdaddy9901 do happen to have a picture? In not very savy in this sense and just starting.
I know this is a year old, but why did you not just loosen the x stepper coupling to isolate the two ends of the x beam. Then you can set the beam parallel Nd then tighten the shift coupler. Much easier to do.

Great video I see you are bypassing the batteries on the laser alignment tool I have same one and notice it uses a lot of batteries Could you please share what you are using to eliminate the batteries? Thanks
@jcbigdaddy9901 Жыл бұрын
I have 3 AAA batteries wired in a series configuration = 4.5vdc. Leave a pig tail coming out of the + and the - battery ends. You will need to play with the jumper wires to find the right combo to lite the red pointer. I clip one wire to the mirror retainer on top of the head. The other clip I attach to the carriage itself.

In the last part of your video, If the Y axis in not tracking parallel (But reasonably close) It can be compensated for with the #1 mirror, Nicki Jensen is correct too much waisted time with chitchat getting the point across.

Contract ANERICAN PHOTONICS direct. Try Google for their contact info. I no longer use the built in batteries as they do not last long enough. Instead I have made a battery pack from 3 AAA batteries and use jumper cables to place the pack out of the way.

@@jcbigdaddy9901 Hi John. Do you have any more info about your battery conversion for the photonics alignment tool? I checked your videos and didn't see anything in the titles or thumbnails. I just acquired one of these and boy do those batteries run out fast. lol Thanks! -Mike

How did you bypass the American Photonics button batteries ?
@jcbigdaddy99012 жыл бұрын
It requires two jumper cables. Check with harbor freight. I think they sell a package of several with alligator clips on the ends. Use a 9v battery. Carefully squeeze one clip and push it up into the end of the AP laser where the button batteries would go. Catch and clip to the spring way up inside. I think that the spring is the + terminal. Clip the other end of that cable to the + of the 9v battery. Clip the other cable to the - of the battery. Touch the other end to the AP last housing and the LED should light. If not reverse the battery connections. When working you can clip to any other metal on the carriage.

^great Video. I have the problem if I move the head in x-axis, there is som noise. Any idea how I can solve the problem?
@jcbigdaddy99012 жыл бұрын
Jakob, what does the X rail noise sound like? The X belt tension should be snug but NOT tight. Also the carriage should be snug on the rail but again not tight. Just no wiggle.

Also check UNDER the rail. I used compressed air and blew mine out and got a bunch of crap out. Was amazed.

great tutorial on how this system works. also thankyou for explaining what issues to look for and how to address the issues. you have done a far superior job explaining all this than any other youtuber i have come across. also which 3d printed laser head mount would you use if you were installing a Cloudray laser head and mirrors?
@jcbigdaddy99012 жыл бұрын
I really do not have any idea. Why do you need a new head mount. ( I am thinking that you are referring to the top plate of the carriage. ) If the hole is not large enough for the new head, open it up. A 'step bit drill' will assist with that.

Thank you very informative video, I just got mine a couple of days ago and the rail looks to be at least 1 inch out of square. maybe even more I will be using your info, I just hope they are enough adjustment to get it right. If not it will be going back. thanks again.

Hey John! Just out of curiosity does the mount plate for lens 3 need to be square with the x rail after removal and replacement?
@jcbigdaddy99013 жыл бұрын
NO. The correct answer is to ignore the actual position of the plate as it will be totally dependent upon the alignment.
@jcbigdaddy99013 жыл бұрын
I suggest you review this video. You need to make the carriage assembly part of the alignment process. It is not possible to align from mirror 3 to the lens. The following makes this infinitely adjustable. K40 - Head - Adjustment Screws kzbin.info/www/bejne/sGmrYaNqe9Bmp9GDK ...
