No Manifesto - Yvonne Rainier (1964) No to spectacle. No to virtuosity. No to transformations and magic and make-believe. No to the glamour and transcendency of the star image. No to the heroic. No to the anti-heroic. No to trash imagery. No to involvement of performer or spectator. No to style. No to camp. No to seduction of spectator by the wiles of the performer. No to eccentricity. No to moving or being moved.

What that guy did to Eugene DeBruin story is a CRIME, and he should be banned forever from public life. If I was Eugenes son, brother, anything, I would love to have 5 minutes in a locked room with him. Its disgusting.

If you go to a philosophy conference these days, you do not hear many scholars improvising and creating on the spot like this. And he is doing it in a foreign language.

I always get the sense of someone who doesn't really know what else to do with her life but masquerade and change herself in front of a mirror (which a camera is), almost like a nihilistic laughter at life or "a theater for no one".. I am of course very glad, Ingrid got so much out of Sherman's work and was able to communicate her experiences with various artists' works so eloquently

Excellent young man who has a direct and unassuming way of speaking about what he does and why he does it. His personal ambition to succeed within the parameters of the global art world is honest & evident. Also interesting to follow Mr Price's ever-evolving approach to manipulating color & plastic form in visually engaging ways. 🔥

This is inspiring. When I think about the feminist history of zines-how the Riot Grrrl movement used them to address women’s issues and promote inclusivity-I can’t help but create memorial zine about Masuimi Max. It would be a way to remember her importance.

His views on "ecstatic truth", his self admitted fabrications in his anti-"accountant" documentaries. And how he talked about how he bounced insult ideas with Kinski when the actor wrote his memoirs... All that makes me wonder how much of his own professed back story is outright, shall we say, exaggerated? :D

So love and care about this lovely soul of a man. I so admire him as an actor and director who knows his craft. We have very few left of the great Hollywood stars who care about there craft. Lynn from york. Yorkshire. England.

I was attending the renowned Cooper Union School for the Advancemnt of Art and Architecture in New York City and one evening took in a performance at Lincoln Center in the late 60's. Before the show began, on a warm summer evening, I was waiting in the elegant plaza, enjoying the breeze as well as the sophisticated crowd. All at once there I was standing in front of Cunningham and Cage, and I knew exactly who they were. Well dressed and tall...they both gave me a delightful nod. Admittedly in those salad days I was a cute young man...and I think they figured so, as well. I returned the nod and shyly moved on. Were it today, I would have approached and engaged then in a lively conversation.

Another example of how a member of the gay community has enriched our lives.
Fun Trivia: When Robert filmed "Tell them Willie Boy is Here" at Morongo, Carlos Castaneda was said to be in the crowd watching. Later in private classes Carlos commented that if they ever made a movie from his books, Robert Redford would be an acceptable person to play his part, as long as they didn't assign Anthony Quinn to play his sorcery teacher "Don Juan". I"m making cartoons about how Carlos taught back in the 90s, and h ave cloned Robert Redford from his appearance as "death" in the early "Twilight Zone" episode. So Robert will play Carlos Castaneda in some cartoons. Already has a tiny bit. Morongo, interestingly, was where Carlos started his search for an "informant", eventually leading to him meeting don Juan.
