Hello, I am currently looking for some new pickups to put in my J bass and I love this sound. Especially the low end and mids. When you wired them in the traditional way, does that mean series?

The red wire: positive. The black wire: negative. The black and white cable: together.

I love that sound. Is that passive or do you have a preamp in the bass. I can get close to that with my preamp switched on but if I go passive the sound gets pretty dark and the output drops a lot.I have a 74 Jazz

hello. it is passive. dimarzio pickups give it that sound. now I am back to the original pickups.

@@andrescarnero I have a new bass coming with single coils, I have a set of Ultras #547+548 I'm going to try those. I don't like the single coil hum so It has to be a split coil pickup set for me.

sonidazo hermano!! tengo los mismos en un jazz bass mexico , pero se escuchan mas bajo volumen en cuerda la y re, por el radio del bajo , te pasa igual o como lo solucionas?tenes la acciom muy baja ? le sacas un sonido al jazz bass super nitido , espectacular

Hola Javier. Tengo el mismo problema. Uso siempre un compresor y la acción muy baja. Hay q buscarle el punto justo con el ajuste del mástil. Y ahora le puse unas cuerdas D’addario NYXL y suena mucho más parejo.

@@BassMan2727 puede ser que por la acción baja de las cuerdas tenga más sustain. Pero tienes que tener en cuenta que los bajos jazz bass de los 70s tienen el micrófono del puente más cerca del mismo puente, y eso le da ese sonido tan particular. Espero que te sirva de ayuda.
