If the vehicle business is doing great, and I think it is, why is the MySubaru app 10 yrs behind other car makers, it’s even behind the US version. What’s going on Subaru, is making a functional app more difficult than a vehicle?

Okay, folks. You're not going crazy. Subaru has a bug in the system to set date/time. For years now I've been trying to figure this out. Sometimes I can set the time, and sometimes I have to go to the dealer where the head of maintenance shows me how to do it. What he shows me looks like what I've been doing all along, except that when HE does it it works, and when I do it, it doesn't. So, I have a 2019 Subaru Crosstrek with *Color* screens. Apparently, the Crosstrek also comes with b/w screens, and instructions are different for that. My car has three screens: two on the middle section of the console and one behind the steering wheel. Time is displayed on the top middle console which is not a touch screen. Also, that screen has no buttons. The lower console is a touch screen and displays radio/media information, as well as settings and other features regarding which I know little. The first several steps in the manual appear to be correct. The electronics of the car must be on. On my car, this means either starting the car, or pressing the start button twice without depressing the brake. Wait until the greeting screens disappear. This takes about 5 - 10 seconds. Press the home button, either on the lower screen on the center console or below the center screens, and then "Settings" on the touch screen. Follow by "Vehicle" at the lower right of the touch screen. The top entry is "clock" or something similar. Select that, and then select Manual mode. The alternative here is to select Auto, which I haven't been able to get to work with my phone. Now the tricky part. Look at the steering wheel. On the left there is a button marked "INFO." Behind the left side of the steering wheel are three buttons: one has an upward pointing triangle, one has "i/set" and one has a downward pointing triangle. Press the INFO button repeatedly until the top screen on the center console says "Push and hold [INFO] button for selection screen." Now look at the screen behind the steering wheel. The particular display here is controlled by the buttons with up and down triangles behind the left side of the steering wheel. IF THIS SCREEN READS "PUSH AND HOLD [i/set] BUTTON FOR SELECTION SCREEN" CHANGE THE SCREEN USING EITHER THE UP OR DOWN BUTTONS!! Apparently, the Subaru logic is confused when both the screen behind the steering wheel and the one at center top of the console show similar messages. NOW press the [INFO] button (*not* the i/set button). The top screen on the center console should now allow you to set the time using the two triangle buttons. Whew!

The naming of this trim line couldn’t be more hilarious and idiotic in the U.S. … In the U.S., the Wilderness Act is being used to close off hundreds of thousands of acres to all uses of public lands in any kind of vehicle, including cars, bicycles, and any other mechanized form of travel. Then, the Wilderness Act is leading to the “parkification” of these areas by grading roads to new, quaint, infrastructured trailheads to make it so station wagons and other city vehicles (ahem, Subarus) can reach them. Someone at Subaru either has a sense of humor, is playing a joke with the market, or didn’t think through the fact that Wilderness(tm) in the U.S. is an embattled term and is being weaponized against local people to close off access to lands they’ve had access to for generations. Either Subaru has a sense of humor, or they realize their market is entirely loaded with novice urbanites and are playing to that market. Hilarious and a BF joke, either way. 🤣

I’m so completely tired of this commercial that even if I was offered a free 2025 Subaru Forester, I would refuse it. Sometimes playing a commercial ad nauseam does the opposite - it detracts rather than attract!

it makes me sad they are pay walling remote start. The only actual good feature of the app. I couldn't justify spending 175 a year for it. I just went with the remote start key fob instead.

yea you just don't pay for it. if you are not paying its not enabled. that being said, any Subaru made after 2019 can be tracked with or without paying for the service.
