0:19 wow, that ice-covered patch on Devon Island looks just like Antarctica!
@JS-yj7owСағат бұрын
Um, that’s not an “icecap”
@Geomargin21 минут бұрын
The scientific articles I referenced called it an ice cap, so if you have a different idea, I would take it up with them haha

What fascinates me about these islands is that they have essentially been shattered and torn apart by being repeatedly eroded by the Laurentide ice sheet. Look at a reconstruction of North America from a couple million years ago and you'll see it was one contiguous land mass

oh thats what that land at 80n, 100w is on my canadian map lol

If you want to see something intresting on google earth, I recomend to check Balleny Islands - they have amazing look. Espesially the Sturge Island, that have wierd blue color on ice - but on 2020 google earth photos it had a wierd pink colour (I think that is due to oversaturation of image, but I'm not sure).

3:25 Interstingly, the way more to the south positioned Prince Charles Island next to Baffin Island was not discovered until a few decades later (1932/1948) and was named after now King Charles III.

I beleive Hudson bay nd James Bay were formed by a very large asteriod hit,This lake may have been created by a fragment from that same asteriod.This region that long ago was apperently under hundreds if not thousands of feet of ice but if an asteriod was travelling at ultra high speeds and became superheated coming through earths atmosphere it would easily make a crater 900 hundred feet deep

I was recently looking around on google earth and noticed a circular underwater depression in the Marquesas archipelago but i havent been able to find anything about what it actually is and if it isnt potentially one of the largest calderas. Could you mabye do a video on that?

@IljaMuromec1145 сағат бұрын

@spacecat969411 сағат бұрын
a triangulation sign, this is a place whose coordinates are known quite accurately. This is necessary for geodetic measurements. Knowing the coordinates of this point, you can calculate the coordinates of other points.
