Hej sorry sent svar. Jag har jobbat lite mer med lera nu, så det här receptet är kanske inte hundra. Sågspånet har tydligen ingen större nytta och mossan är inte tillräcklig stark som armering. Men det sprack väldigt lite tycker jag. Just till detta är kanske inte lerans egenskaper så väldigt avgörande. Det är inga tjocka lager och sådär. Men idag skulle jag nog haft halm istället för sågspån och mossa. OM det hade spruckit hade jag nog bara lagt ett lager till ovanpå!

Hej! Jag använder tätvuxen furu. Brukar ta nån bit gammelfura och klyva till pluggar.

Hi, thanks for your questions! And for watching. It was very specific questions :) I´m afraid I can´t answer them all. The axe I am using is this one: www.gransforsbruk.com/en/product/gransfors-broad-axe-model-1900/ It is not angled and it has two bevels. Just standard. When I hew I don´t have a preferred side to hew, I can hew from both sides. I have a few axes with just one bevel, I always use them with the flat side in. Thanks! I started using the handplane, because I want to see how it works. It needs some adjusting, so it wasn´t so good. The router is faster off course. But I would like to use handplane, but I think that mine needs some adjusting first, and I didn´t have that time.

This kind of plane is actually a two-person plane. In swedish it is called oxhyvel, direct translation ox-plane. This particular plane is antique, I don´t remember how I got it, but I use it for rough planing, since the blade is quite broad and I have made it a little rounded. Hi Mick! Yes it is! It is difficult to store blanks. I roughly shape the spoon and then I dry it. The birchlogs that I cut them from can just be stored so long. It can´t dry (cracks) and it must not rot, off course. It can be stored outside in the winter and in the summer too, but just for a short while. So the best thing is to cut blanks and dry as soon as you can. If you don´t use the whole log and it gets wasted you make firewood from the rest :) So the short answer, I let the blanks (roughly shaped spoons) dry. The rest of the wood I store cold and hope for the best!

@@ahardslojdlife Hi Niklas, thanks for the reply. Agreed about the difficulty. I do more or less the same, but for some small batches of wood I use a double boiler and wax the ends with paraffin wax. This works for periods of over a year for me, stored waxed in a shed in Wales. I wouldn't be able to do it for all blanks, but good birch is harder to come by here, so it does get the treatment. You're right that the best thing is just to get on and make the spoons, though.

Hi Henri! Sorry for late answer! I Always recommend the double bevel. Unless you are very specialised you don't need a single bevel plus it is trickier to use!

If you look in the end of the video, I also show how to make the internal thread. You need two tools to make threads; one for the internal and one for the external. The tool for the internal thread is hard to make yourself, you need to be a toolmaker/blacksmith for that. The tool for the external thread you can make if you have to. So if you find just the tool for the internal thread, that is ok. If you only find a tool for the external threads, there is not much use for it. Thanks for watching! And thanks for the comment!
