Wow what a fantastic cover, staying true to the original but adding a real layer of emotion in the vocals, not to mention brilliant guitar playing, looks so natural. Thanks for this it's made my day, hope you've stayed well over the years :)

Hey man,i love this song so much and you did it sooo much justice with your beautiful voice and that gorgeous guitar and also i love that picking technique and that you don't use a pick👍😉💜
@mikesharpsongs13 күн бұрын
@@danielost5252 much appreciated, sir! It is a wonderful song. Paul Carrack is one of my all time favorite performers. And yes, that guitar is a dear friend; although we certainly fight at times 😂; I'll never out dress it. I have found that fingerpicking gives me more space and control when singing. It's weird to get used to at first, but once you select simple patterns and chord extensions and licks that work within the chord progression it is very freeing.
@danielost525213 күн бұрын
@@mikesharpsongs i totally agree with you, i play a little guitar and sing myself,not as good as you but i never use a pick either😉 If you want to see me play and sing please search for:Daniel Öst on KZbin. Take care man, Nice chatting with you 😃👍

Omg, that guitar looks stunning and sounds sooo beautiful 💜 What kind of guitar is that ?
@mikesharpsongs13 күн бұрын
@@danielost5252 thanks so much! It is a Godin Multiac Jazz SA. It's been my main guitar since 2008 and survived 1000s of gigs; plus it has a hexaphonic piezo output, humbucker and 13pin synth output as well. So you can get a lot of different kinds of sounds from it; given you plug it in to the various available pedals, etc😊

Michael, just came over here from seeing this on Michael Palmisano’s channel. I’ve been shopping thin body electric/acoustic nylon string guitars for a while and love how your guitar sounds (and looks). Can’t tell whether those are steel or nylon strings. Who made that guitar? Can you tell me the brand and model?
@mikesharpsongs17 күн бұрын
@@GitarmanBob Hey Sir! Thanks so much for the kindness! It is a steel string (flatwounds are my preferred) Godin Mulitac Jazz SA guitar. Godin makes great guitars. This one is out of production, but you can definitely find them used.

@@mikesharpsongs Well Mike, I pulled the trigger for a new acoustic-electric nylon string guitar, but I ended up getting the Sire G5N. Anyway, I’ve subscribed to your channel because I like what I hear.

fantastic cover. I've always loved played the hell out of the original, I mean Aimee Mann's voice, right? I thought tonight, how cool would it be to hear a male cover and here we are. you did an amazing job! excellent playing, didn't overpower the vocals and best all of all, didn't turn it into a twangy country song and destroy it for me. kudos and well done!
