This is apparently an analytics guy and he called AJ Hawk "trash", Doubs the "4th best receiver on the team", and the Bears "good now". K... Oh, he also said that Rodgers didn't follow Lafleur's system and then turned around and said that Lafleur helped him get "an mvp"... for one, it was two mvp's, and for two, you can't really have it go both ways.

A Packers fan here. I think the NFC North is going to be very competitive this year. Maybe even the best division in the NFL. The year end standings for the division will be determined by the development of the 2 rookie QB’s, the continued development of Jordan Love and the continuing solid play of Jared Goff. Jared Goff has demonstrated he can play at a consistently high level year after year and that should continue for the 2024 season. Jordan Love appears to be a budding star at quarterback and should play very well in 2024 but since he only has one year of starting experience so far he probably won’t have the level of consistent play that Goff does which will result in the Lions winning the division and GB becoming a Wild Card team. The Chicago Bears are clearly a team on the rise. They have a very talented rookie quarterback; a mix of solid young and veteran talent at the offensive skill positions; and a solid offensive line. In addition, the Bears have a very competitive defense that played well in the second half of last season. The level of success that the Bears have in 2024 is going to depend in great measure upon how quickly and how well Caleb Williams develops. He is an excellent talent but the Bears will start slowly due to their rookie quarterback but will come on strong as the season progresses. The Bears will finish 3rd in the division at around 0.500 or maybe a little higher not far behind the Packers. The Vikings will be a distant 4th because the just have too many holes on their roster. They will most likely start rookie QB JJ McCarthy that will need a lot of development or start a washed up veteran. They have a number of good players but the overall roster has too many holes for them to compete with the rest of the division.

To be fair, the last half of the season, the Bears only played a couple good offensive teams GB takes back the north

I find it funny that a Bears fan is saying that Goff would have made the Bears and/or Vikings worse last year if he was on their teams. Sorry that you dont have a good TEAM! Just keep winning the offseason so the good teams like the Lions can actually win games that matter. Yeah the Bears had a "great draft". Ok go prove it on the field. As a Lions fan I can see when a fanbase is relying on players to win meaningful games. The truth is you need a complete organization. When you get that, then you can start criticizing other teams. Until then, just keep winning your 5-8 games a year and starting talking about the draft in December!

Goff improved a bad Cal team. Was part of the turn around in LA. Was part of the turn around in Detroit. Guess he’s just lucky to go to shitty teams when they just so happen to be getting better? And I’m sure any QB could run a McVay or Ben Johnson offense better. Most disrespected player in the NFL.

You ask why Dan Campbell is a good coach, you also ask if Goff should be paid. The answer is somewhat the same to both. Dan and the coaching staff have built an offense that fits Goffs strengths to a tee. Does that make Goff a system QB? Maybe... but if it works that well is that bad? No, for me it is smart coaching. Campbell is honest with the players. He runs a meritocracy, if you earn the position you get to play, reputation be damned. As a player you are told what to improve to get playing time. Players want a coach like that.

Interesting show. For a quarterback with the credentials Jared Goff has for his 8 years in the league I am continually amazed at people who seem to follow the game giving such little respect for his accomplishments. He is by far the best precision timing passing quarterback in the NFL and the very best play action ball handling quarterback in the NFL. He is not a dual run-pass threat to extend plays with his legs when the protection or coverage stones the play call. However, he has done what no NFL QB has ever done by taking two very different and dismal franchises that were perennial losers to playoff success by winning playoff games for the 2 teams for the first time in over a decade. The Rams had gone 13 straight years without a winning record (2004-2016) and no playoff appearances in 12 straight years (2005-2016) before he became the season opening starter in 2017. The Lions had not won a playoff game in over 30 years prior to Goff becoming their QB. He has been the QB of four NFL Top 5 offenses over the past seven years doing it with both the Rams and Lions. Sean McVay, as the offensive coordinator of the Washington Redskins with Kirk Cousins while playing in his 3rd through 5th seasons in the league, never had a Top 5 NFL offense. Goff went back to back in 2017 and 2018 with NFL Top 5 offenses for the Rams, and these are the only two times a Sean McVay coached offense has achieved a ranking that high. Matthew Stafford has yet to do it with McVay, and Stafford's only time in the Top 5 offense rankings happened in 2011. Goff quarterbacked his third Top 5 offense feat in 2022 with an unknown offensive coordinator, Ben Johnson, who became the hot coaching topic for two years running after the Lions with Goff had their second straight Top 5 offense in 2023. Goff was a dropped 4th down pass and a dropped INT which bounced off a face mask and into Brandon Aiyuk's hands away from his second Super Bowl just four months ago.

I think the mistake comes in how people try to divide the pool of QB talent. Most QBs are bad under pressure, need talent around them, and a system that works for their skills. Is every top 10 QB elite? Is every elite QB on an elite offense? The answer to both is "probably not". If you ask "can Goff lead an elite offense?" The answer is conclusively yes If you ask "can Goff win in the postseason?" The answer is also yes.

I hate the entire "system" convo. Stafford would have used ARSB like he did Golden Tate. Every QB has a system built around his strengths, unless the OC is an idiot.🤣

Gentlemen, I understand Bears fans and media wanting the brass to swing for the fences in pursuit of coaching stars. Something that is consistently glossed over is 1) It takes two to tango, what makes anyone believe that Harbaugh, Vrabel etc WANT to come to the Bears if they have options. Maybe Vrabel wants to go to NE or take a year off. 2) Relationships--does Bears brass have a history good or bad with any potential coaches?.; 3) Systems already in place which would require a complete teardown of the roster again.

Gentlemen! Love the pod, forgot it's on YT. One minor disagreement on Fields flaws. Yes there are times he holds on to the ball too long waiting for anybody other than Moore or Kmet open. But that was not the case against GB. During the first 10-12 pass plays he was quick, precise and decisive. He made about 3 wow throws into small windows or deep. He didnt hold the ball more than 3 secs. Then the interior line fell apart. Teven had his worse game and GB attacked the A gaps. The Justin was sacked and pressured no stop. Did Getsy try to counter with max protect or slants, etc? Nope. Pitches and screens. No quick passing game. Just watched his games against Michigan and Clemson. Yes he had talented WRs but he spread the ball to 6-7 in those games and didn't have the bad habits he has now. So what was Ryan Day doing with him? Where's that QB? Coaching matters

Y'all need to fire Eberflus. Mentality blocks where when you are winning you fall to pieces comes directly from coaching. We had the same thing with Patricia. Don't waste a year 3 on him like we did with Matty, we all knew it was a mistake but they did it anyway and it cost a lot and years to fix. It'll be the same for you if you do not get rid!

I totally agree with Jack about Velus. Ppl are still punishing him for last year, and he has barely had any opportunities this year. He's showed up pretty well when he's had opportunities. I feel he just needs more touches and targets in the offense before he explodes for some highlight plays. Tyler Scott is good, but a completely different body type -- and also has questionable hands. But either way, we're better off prioritizing looks at Velus this year, because Scott will be here for a while. And I agree with Brendon about how we need to stop talking about the draft in October. (or November for that matter). Love the show, guys!
