I used Eastwood's roll on primer and it really sticks like glue. Awesome stuff.
@robertfontaine36505 ай бұрын
Looks like you didn't put on a guide coat and block sand. Seeing sanding sratches in a single spot suggests you only blocked the area rather than the whole panel, Seeing filler through the primer again suggests you missed the spot entirely. These same issues will show up it you use a gun.

Curious as to what your plans are for the hood to clear the air cleaner. I am just realizing this is going to be a problem now that i have thw engine mocked up. I was not intending to put a scoop on but may have to. Also, did you have an issue mounting the alternator? I kept with the LA v-belt system and the alternator hits the head with the stock LA mou ting system. I am probably going to fabricate something to make it work.
@dukesgarage42 Жыл бұрын
Well in the future I plan on getting a sick pack hood and making sure it opens up better air flow to the cleaner. I used the non ac magnum alternator setup so I can't speak on it. I wish you the best of luck with it
@MontsweagGarage Жыл бұрын
@dukesmopargarage turns out the alternator bracket from a 63-66 273 works perfectly. I have one on the way. Should be here today. I'll let you know once I get it on the engine.

You'll have to let me know how you like the Optiflow primer system. I have been on the fence about going with roll-on or spray-on primer when I get to body work.
@dukesgarage42 Жыл бұрын
I will definitely say that if you are doing everything at home and don't mind putting in a little extra work to get everything level then go for it. It's not the greatest at laying flat but builds up nicely with just the first coat. I'll probably do another video talking about how well the whole kit works this week

@Duke's Mopar Garage Nice job getting your Dart on the road. I am currently building a similar setup. 5.9L Magnum in front of an A904 and a Holley Sniper EFI for my '67. I am wondering of you ended up using any type of adapter for the throttle and kickdown cables? I am going from an Edelbrock 1406 that requires an adapter to keep the geometry correct on the small block Mopars. I would appreciate any insight you might have.
@dukesgarage42 Жыл бұрын
I picked up a spectre throttle cable bracket and I only had to cut out a small notch to allow everything to line up. Only downside is that I have to really make sure the hardware is pretty tight so it doesn't shift. For the transmission kickdown cable, I just added two washers to mount it to the bracket.

I had a friend that owned a 1969 Road Runner. While helping him with the bodywork, we discovered that both quarters were riveted on. Oh,the pure joy of straightening out someone else's "work". Good luck with your Dart. I've been a Mopar man since 1977, the year I put my first one together. So, I feel your pain. Unfortunately I have seen a considerable amount of type of thing in my time. Mopar or no car!

Good vid. I just finished replacing all mine. Went in a couple months back and swapped the bad ones like you did. Last month the ticking came back, was good for about 1500 miles after the initial fix. Replaced every rocker arm, found 4 had failed, in addition to the 3 I replaced earlier. Be prepared to go in and do the rest.
@dukesgarage42 Жыл бұрын
I figured that would be the case later on. Eventually I'll have all new rockers set aside so when it's time I'll be able to fix it properly. Had to get the family car back up and running

Great video 👍🏻👍🏻I’m a new subscriber I’m not sure what all you have done to your Magnum but with just a header/intake and carb swap you should be easily around 320hp at the crank of course your head work will definitely add to that so I would say around 340hp at the crank and at the rear wheels I would say 280-290hp is my guess 👍🏻👍🏻

I am doing just about the same with my 71 Dart's 360 Magnum but, I went with the Pac springs and a 220/230 @ 50 cam. I am considering doing a 3 angle valve job which I did on my old 360 LA engine.
