I first saw this vid nearly 30 yrs ago. My favorite part is the end when he talks about catch and release. It makes him feel good. A man who is in tune with his environment , Well done Mel. Pity the quality of the vid is poor. Never the less well done.

I have not looked in the box yet should should I . I love the old classic fly tiers from the eighty’s these three patterns are awesome I’ll be tying the wilted spinach. And by varying the tail you can tye this larger and fish as a streamer.

If I used as much effort as she does casting I would not have lasted the sixty years I have been fishing, but then I am not trying for maximum distance as she is, delicate presentation is the goal on the UK chalk streams that I fish, Brown trout are fussy in contrast to the Rainbow she is targeting in the video.

It's a little dated, we got much better threads these days, but it sure does hold up well. I fish the floating nymph a lot especially during the Sulpher hatch we have here in the North East and in PA. A lot of the time, Its just something a little different to the fish than the usual imatations that are fished these days like the compardun, and the sparkle dun, that I been tying for more than four decades now. God how I remember those neropreme waders. Now if Sage would just make RP-II's again, my old 8'6" 5 wt, walked away. Maybe the best general purpose trout rod Sage ever made.
