You have to put the Spree pay dispute in context. Coming off a wcf against the Lakers, he was matched with Kobe, as I recall Hassell having problems and having to split his time defensively. Check the numbers; Kobe and Spree essentially cancelled each other out. (KB-24/4/5.5/1.5 as first option on offense and LS-20/4/5/1.5 as second option on offense). Sprewell shot the better 3 ball and was clutch ft posting better numbers than Bryant, turned the ball over less and fouled less. Kobe saved energy on defense by not often being matched to Spree (Devean George spent a chunk of time trying to contain him around screens, Kobe guarded Hassell). Both shot 40% fg in a rough series. Why should this be a point in discussion? This was Sprewell's proof that he was still All-Star talent, taking it to 2004 (25 year old) prime Kobe... the best guard in the NBA at the time. To get mid-level money (same money paid to Jason Terry, Corey Maggette; many tiers below Sprewell) after his performance speaks more about Minnesota's inability to recognize talent and team success.

@@hello.gumption Man you are spot on! LS was a force for sure, and the fact that he showed he was worth the money says a lot about the organization respecting him. Great point!

HELL NO!! HE IS A REMINDER OF DERRICK ROSE, BUT PLAYERS USE TO CALL OUT SICK OR INJURED JUST TO NOT PLAY HIM OR TO GET EMBARRASSED BY HIM. DERRICK ROSE WAS A BEAST & WANTED TO WIN ABOVE ANYTHING.

@@swish4realbasketball789 MUCH OBLIGED. I OFTEN FELT LIKE JA'S PLAYING STYLE WAS SIMILAR TO DERRICK ROSE, BUT ROSE WAS A DIFFERENT ANIMAL. HE HAD THAT DOG-FIGHT IN HIM. HE TOOK ON LEBRON & D-WADE WHEN THEY WERE ALL WERE IN TOP FORM AND HE MADE IT HARD FOR THEM. THERE WAS NO FIGURING THIS DUDE OUT BCUZ HIS GAME KEPT EVOLVING SO RAPIDLY AT THAT TIME. JA IS VERY GOOD FOR HIS AGE, BUT HE DOESN'T HAVE THAT CONCRETE SANDPAPER GRIT IN HIM YET. JUST MY OPINION.

@@swish4realbasketball789 OH ABSOLUTELY!! THAT WAS 1 OF HIS SUPER POWERS ON THE COURT. HE WAS HUMBLE, COURTEOUS, SOFT-SPOKEN IN A VERY MATURE WAY. HE LET HIS GAME SPEAK FOR HIM. WE ALL WISH HE DIDN'T GET HIT WITH THOSE INJURIES SO EARLY IN HIS CAREER WHEN HE WAS STARTING TO BLOSSOM BCUZ HE DEFINITELY WOULD'VE BROUGHT A CHIP TO CHICAGO IN MY HUMBLE OPINION.
