The woman by the window's light, a moon's reflection, soft and bright. Neighbors in the street did dream of her adventures, a moonbeam's gleam. Her words, like pearls, would gently fall, unnoticed by the darkened hall. One fateful morning, a prince arrived, wealthy, charming, his love contrived. With tales he spun, a silver tongue, he took her to bed, where tales were hung. But he was a prince of fleeting joy, leaving her alone, a toy. A prince under the moon's soft glow, his nights consumed by a wild show. Neighbors watched in silent awe, as she, enchanted, began to draw. "Don't marry him," they cried in vain, but she, relentless, bore the pain. The woman by the window's light, a moon's reflection, lost in flight. The prince turned to a toad, they say, his riches gone, his charm in decay. Now he'd hit her, always drowning, in drink and women, her world surrounding. The market ladies knew her tale, and mine, as well, along the trail. The woman by the window's light... Years passed by, she disappeared, lost in mist, her presence cleared. Until one day, by chance I saw, her at the market, without a flaw. I asked if she remembered me, she asked how much, with jest and glee. Saddened, I left, my heart adrift, to return home, my soul adrift. Tomorrow, I'll seek her out, to see what life's all about. I'll tell her, "It doesn't matter, as long as you keep on smiling, chatter. For you'll always be to me, my dear, the woman by the window here." The woman by the window's light...
