I see Frank is not the sharpest tool in the shed. First, that was the highest he could give the defendant based on his interpretation of the law. Not on being lenient, but on the law. Second, two people did drugs together in one died, wow that’s awful both people consented to what they were doing. So in many ways that’s actually a very harsh sentence. But maybe Frank doesn’t understand these things, because I know, thinking is hard. 😂

This is so disgusting that an acorn would cause this much chaos and put a handcuffed man in the line of fire. Attempted murder charges should be filed against those moron cops. First of all, he was handcuffed behind his back. Didn’t it dawn on anyone that there is no way he could be shooting a gun. And then yelling I’m hit. That dudes been playing to many video games.

Sorry, don’t feel sorry for the 18 year old or his family. Hats off to the man who intervened. I wonder what the family of the person, the 18 year old was holding the gun to his head, would say if the bystander hadn’t gotten involved and the criminal had shot and killed him???

Day after thanksgiving, putting decorations up for a winter holiday up during autumn is incorrect. Christmas my favorite holiday but no holiday deserves that much attention when a separate holiday is the one on deck. Approximately a month is plenty of time.

While sad, this seems like the best outcome of the worst options. This ship has been rotting for years, only the skeleton remains. I hope artifacts are removed and donated to Naval history museums before they end upon the bottom of the Ocean. I wish I would have stopped by to visit last time I was down that way, really a shame that I didn't want to make the detour a looking back.

Qualified immunity - Root cause of a lot of Police Misconduct The U.S. Supreme Court first introduced the qualified immunity doctrine in Pierson v. Ray (1967), a case litigated during the height of the civil rights movement. It is stated to have been originally introduced with the rationale of protecting law enforcement officials from frivolous lawsuits and financial liability in cases where they acted in good faith in unclear legal situations. Starting around 2005, courts increasingly applied the doctrine to cases involving the use of excessive or deadly force by police, leading to widespread criticism that it "has become a nearly fail safe tool to let police brutality go unpunished and deny victims their constitutional rights" (as summarized in a 2020 Reuters report). This doctrine, invented by the Court out of whole cloth, immunizes public officials even when they commit legal misconduct unless they violated 'clearly established law'. That standard is incredibly difficult for civil rights plaintiffs to overcome because the courts have required not just a clear legal rule, but a prior case on the books with functionally identical facts. In addition, cities and states can create their own causes of action to hold government officials accountable and ban qualified immunity as a potential defense. Today, four states-Colorado, Montana, Nevada, and New Mexico-have eliminated qualified immunity for state constitutional lawsuits against police officers. Qualified immunity only applies when a police officer has violated someone’s constitutional rights. Police officers who are “legitimately performing their duties” (i.e. acting lawfully) do not need qualified immunity because, by definition, they are not violating anyone’s rights in the first place. Why do tax payers have to pay for criminal acts perpetrated by government employees? Police should buy malpractice insurance like doctors have to. Contact your state representatives, state senators and congressmen (women), federal congressmen (women) and senators. And voice your opinion.

What do they need to do to the ship to get it ready? The cost of doing that is ridiculous, they took all the asbestos out of it years ago, why didn’t somebody just buy this sandblasted paint it and retrofitted into another use? What a waste of money and a beautiful ship at that!

I guess John is not one that offers a lot of value to any conversation whatsoever. John did not even articulate his opinion whatsoever. Several people think this sentence is way too harsh in a couple people think it’s too lenient. I hope John will learn to articulate himself in the future and then also explain in detail why he believes what he believes. If that’s possible.
