ABP running the port into the ground, over many years. lots of opportunities and land, which they own, derelict for years. Perhaps this is their plan....to ruin the port and to fill it in so they can sell the land off for housing.....

This is absolutely wonderful. Thankyou so much. The UK fishing industry is a mystery to me.. so much opportunity but hamstrung.

I love Fleetwood. Used to love fishing from the pier when it existed. Dredging would also solve flooding problems throughout the country. Brexit was meant to resolve all this but, thanks Tories and now the other set of self serving idiots in charge, not.

The government talk the talk, but they don't walk the walk. They promised to restore and protect British waters, but nothing has changed. I‘m sorry you lost your boat and livelihood. I can only imagine what it feels like. Having spent months in Fleetwood, talking to fish filleters, fishermen and the people in the town, l understand and realise what fishing means to Fleetwood. Fishing is Fleetwood, those two words are intertwined forever. Away from Fleetwood, in other parts of the UK, they think all fish from Fleetwood is landed there. As the good folk of Fleetwood know over ninety per cent is delivered by lorry from all parts of the UK. How crasy is that? I hope this video makes Flyde Council, and the government, wake up and stop the rot. If the good people of Fleetwood share this video it may help to begin the resurgence of a trawler fleet to be proud of. Bringing jobs, prosperity, hope and pride back to the historic Fleetwood Port.

What a load of lies the leave lots said. So many gullable people believed them and look at the state of our country, fishing industry, farming etc , mostly destroyed

Hopefully, the new processing plants, an auction hall and smoking kiln will kickstart a resurgence in the port once again the flagship of Fleetwood.

ABP are the biggest liars in the fishing industry and for Fleetwoods future, They scrapped the Ro-Ro ferries years ago leaving the place to rot...

I spent many days and nights filming at the port. Fascinated by the skilled fish filleters dissecting hundreds of fish. Each haddock or cod as long as your arm filited in seconds. Witnessing the decay of the original buildings and no facilities for the trawlermen was tragic and depressing. Hats off to Andy Bynam and his hard-working crew for persevering in third-world conditions. Now l know why fishermen and fishmongers are always miserable and bad-tempered.😂 Not the easiest people to interview.

Very interesting. Thank you for taking the time to make and post this video. I wish everyone in Fleetwood the best of luck in resurrecting this once vital industry.

It would be great to see this as a working port again and see all the foreign boats stopped fishing British waters. It looks horrible the way it is with all the silt. Hopefully with the help of a few dredging boats this can be made into a nice harbour again.

Dredging the port is the key to opening the port as a viable operation for trawlers and other big boats. The ironic reality four dredgers are registered to Fleetwood Dock and berthed at the port. They dredge all ports along the west coast of the UK. Why not Fleetwood? The old story who will pay for it? Looking towards the future the prospective new owners have promised to make dredging a priority.

@@brocktherock4441 I hope they do 🤞 but they also promised to sort glasson docks out and all they have done is remove the gates so there open permanent now

A very interesting video. I had a ride round the port yesterday the outer basin is so silted up only half is useable. The now unused fish merchant buildings is a disgrace and needs urgent work.
