I'm from Marietta, Ga. Billy Joe's hometown. Grew up listening to him. RIP. Great video!

I went to that school. I worked at that sonic drive in, it became a burger express and then a car lot.🥺

Man, talk about a misunderstanding, misinterpretation of a song. This hilariously bad. This is a song of nostalgia. It’s a song of ironic insult.

Best rendition of this classic oldie I've ever heard.
Louis, the video really captures the essence of going to that old school. I personally never went to the Old Denison High school, but it was really great to see the inside and picture all the kids that went there.. my husband included. Thank you for such a great video, Nancy Hurlock Lakey

I don't remember all the names of the kids from Meadowlark Ln., but here's a few : Harry Agee actually lived across the back fence & liked the red head girl at the end of the street, the Vogels: Gary, Mary, my friend Nancy, Fred Cook, my brother's friend & his horse, David Lowe, my brother's friend lived next door. I babysat 2 little French girls to the left side whose dad was military & their mother was beautiful.

My brother just told me about this video. We went to school there, but it was then McDaniel Jr. High. Great memories there. I hung out on those front steps w my girlfriends. A boy bought my lunch the first day of Jr. Hi there at the drive in across the street. I was 13 or 14 yrs. old. The only sad memory was just entering Science class when they announced that Pres. Kennedy had been shot & then died. We all went into a daze & started wandering the hallways. I still think fondly of the kids I hung out with at the school bus stop around the corner from Meadowlark Ln. The good old days.

I recall as a kid in early 1970s was looking forward to be a teen or adult. Seemed like it took forever. Funny how time slips away.

At 2:50 is that Doris Day with Cary Grant? Not a bad version but I've only ever heard Willie Nelson sing it till now and really can't get that out of head while trying to listen to this version. Video is a nice nostalgia hits. Thanks.

I went to R.L. Osborne and Billy Joe went to Campbell High in Smyrna but I was friends with the girl that lived next door to him and so I became friends with his younger sister Marilyn.....so I got to meet B.J. and we even got to watch and enjoy his "band" when they practiced . They were good and he was cute, what else could a teenage girl want back in the late 50's. He was a really sweet guy and not 'stuck up' or thought he was 'IT'.....he was cool.........

This makes me cry every time I play it. I got to see Billy Joe Royal at open concert in Alabama back in the 70's. The video takes me back to what school, the cars, and all the memories and it makes me wish I could go back to the 50's when life was so different as a young teenager.

This song brought forth incredible waves of lost memories welling up in my eyes. My speech stayed silent with no words to tell their story; but my tears sold their soul in ways all could hear. Thank you for this wonderful video, heartfelt and bittersweet of a man who came alive again and lives in a time I cannot forget.

When I was just a kid around 10 or 11 I could sing Billy Joe Royal songs like I had a hidden tape recorder up my sleeve. My late sister Susan (Susie) used to tickle me until I'd sing them for her and her girlfriends, still can do one of my all time Billy Joe Royal songs, (Down in the Boondocks) but not without a few tears. Thank you Louispollaro for this wonderful posting.
