Hi guys me again I need some info.... I really don't have money or so but is there a way for me to cut and maybe get my stones polished by myself.... Now I mean have no cash for real genuine equipment 😢😢😢😢
@agateenchantmentrockwizard59697 күн бұрын
A tile saw or an angle grinder are cheaper ways to cut rocks until you can afford something better. We used a tile saw for years before we could afford a trim saw. We have several videos showing how to use a tile saw. As for polishing stones, you can pick up a rotary tool fairly inexpensive. We have at least one video on how to polish stone with a rotary tool. Good luck.

Hi, Jonathan. Yes, we received your email, but I haven't had the time to sit down & review the stones in depth on my computer. At first glance, the pic 1 looks to be an agate, pic 2 & 3 look to be the same rock. Pic 4, 5 & 6 look to be a multihued jasper with a little bit of host rock still attached. I have to confess, I'm stumped on the last pic ... it has some characteristics of dolomite, but it also looks to have some iron staining. .. I will continue my research on this one. A few things that will help to know ... what is the Mohs hardness of the last stone, what color of streak does it leave, & what is its specific gravity? I'm so happy you have had some good rock hunts!!

Only if you are willing to spend $$$, labor & time to create a beautiful piece of wearable art, then sell it for a loss of 1/3 of what you paid out ... oh, and not worry about getting paid for your labor or time! Lol!! And do that for about 5 to 7 years, or however long it takes for you to get your name out there & get a reputation for your art. Seriously, this is a labor of love & passion, creating a beauty out what others see as "just a rock"! That is why we both have other jobs to pay the bills & pay for the supplies! Thank you for watching our content!!

I find something really cool someday. Can I send you guys pics and maybe you can help identify most for me that will be cool

Johnathan, I am always willing to help id rock as best as I can from a photo .... the pics will need to be in focus, in natural light, but not necessarily bright light. I can't say I will be 100% correct because id'ing some rocks take all the senses ... sight, touch, hearing, smell, & yes, taste. There are some tests you can do to eleminate rocks ... the Mohs Hardness test, the Streak test, the Specific Gravity test, & of course, the research test (of which you have complete step one, asking for help). You can send the pics to the email in the description. Thanks for watching our content & commenting! It helps our channel and hopefully we can help you in return.

They have to get rocks from somewhere local! Always ask for permission to go thru someone's rocks. You will probably get some weird looks, but rockhounds always get looks, stares, or glazed eyes when we get to describing all the cool things we know about beautiful agates, gemmy jaspers, & amazing crystals! Yes, when Mother Nature turns on her spray bottle (rain), it is one of the best times to look for rocks!! You are most welcome, happy hounding!
