I was there 3000 years ago lol. Was able to watch this when I was doing my internship for a tv network in our country. With my boys at the video editing room while on break Then eventually absorbed after graduating. That was 17 years ago. So much has happened. Damn, so nostalgic.

Ive watched this vid 100's of times since its release and its still just as powerful 17 yrs later.

2024 and something fun happened. I was listening to Sick Puppies' singer lead's new song and I asked my friend he could recognize his voice. I had to send him this beautiful video to remind him of the band.

17 years ago... but this was a real time in my life where I felt a whole lot of emotion for the first time. So much empathy and love out of no where for such a young age. I was like 8 and just bawling my eyes out to this song. Such a great song and concept.

I've done this twice in my life. Both times were honestly genuinely life affirming. The amount of random love on the street you felt was just... overwhelming and extremely fulfilling at the same time. The one I remember the best was a little girl of about 6 who was passing with her mom and asked what it all was. I asked if she wanted a hug, and she said yes. I'm a 6 foot 4 guy so I got down on my knee and we hugged. She went on her way but 10 feet down the road, she asked her mom if she could have another. So she came back and hugged me again. Melted my heart truth be told. Sweet girl. It's been years and I still remember.

The free hugs campaign. This video was huge on the internet when it first came out, we would share it all over Myspace, then go to KZbin and sing our hearts out while we watched the world heal a little bit. Love this shit man.

I remember seeing the this as it happened and the news and current affairs stories it generated. I wouldn't subscribe to the band Sick Puppies though. They ripped this guy off so badly. He had been doing this Free Hugs campaign for ages before one of the band members came along and decided to film him and then put it to music. They then cut him out of all proceeds from the downloads and any free hugs murchandising. He started the whole thing and ended up broke. They are still earning money. Sick Puppies indeed. Pathetic. Give him some money.
