Edwards is what I grew up seeing. That, and simplex at my middle school. I'm surprised it isn't a code 3 on the edwards. The simplex alarms (except for that one random edwards integrity) made cackling noises. It was really weird. I think I was the 4100ES system? Edwards Genesis is what I'm used to, and integrity.

That’s a neat little system! Obviously, due to the size of the room it’s protecting, the delays are tiny, but it’s still pretty cool nonetheless! I also like how they can get three separate tones out of that horn/strobe by changing how long it sounds for at a time. During pre-discharge, it plays short siren bursts; when the abort switch is activated, it plays longer bursts; and when it goes into full discharge and activates the solenoid, it basically sends the horn a continuous signal, so it plays the full siren/whoop tone!

weird hearing these on continuous but honestly not bad unlike a lot of modern horn strobes on continues that are really high pitched such as system sensor spectralert advance and or L series or some wheelock products

Very interesting to see these Temporal option Integrities on Continuous and to have an L-Series as a replacement; I'd expect to see an LED Genesis as the replacement.

My company has been the only ones other than cintas to maintain this system in recent years. While I agree with you, we typically don’t stock EST devices. I’ll definitely use LED Genesis as replacements if any other horns fail in the future.

A piece of electrical tape. A lot of techs will put a piece of electrical tape on a device to indicate that it does not work and needs to be replaced. This one did work however so I removed the tape.

Why were the smokes tested with a magnet rather than smoke substitute? I’ve never seen a system be inspected with a magnet around here.

@@niks_crazy_world a lot of these devices were tested with magnets due to the volume of smoke detectors that have gotten stuck in alarm conditions. 3 days before this inspection, I was at this site replacing a detector that got a permanently dirty trouble. A few of these were tested with canned smoke and we had to replace them because they would not reset. They are due to be sensitivity tested soon and that will determine if they need to be replaced or not.

My school has first gen integrity’s and Gym section of the school has Genesis which formally used to be the integrities. The elementary school not far from my school has a Simplex 4100es formally a 4100U built in 2006 and Es installed in 2010 with simplex TrueAlert Speaker strobes with code 3 siren and air raid siren(fire drill only).
