Nice job! Did you have to redo the wiring on it? I’m trying to find the wiring manual for my 1966 Santa Fe . Have any ideas?

That trailer is in pretty good shape considering that the metal shin , usually on it is a fantastic source for condensation . I think I had one . A 1972 soro Scotty , 13’ long . A little heavey to tow , but the interior was nice if the mice didn’t get in it . Um , years ago , you could have your family ride in it ( like your mother in law ) . The law was changed since to exclude that possibility . No peace for the weary 😮‍💨.

VERY interesting to see innards of old campers & how they are built. Surprised to see how it rots out from the bottom vs top down 🤔. Good to know for my build. Thanks

Very nice!!! The only changes I would want is red accents instead of blue and a back on the 1 seat at the dinette.

Most parts are rescued from the camper. Vintagetrailersupply.com is a great source. Builds of this size average about 6k in materials and about 250 hrs of time.

Thank you Brad for all the tips and knowledge you provide in your videos. We have a 1961 Rustler truck camper that is in mint condition on the inside, as if it was never used. The vents in the kitchen and over the bed area however started to slowly leak over many years of neglect long before we got it for free. We have plans on restoring the entire roof. Your videos give me encouragement and good advice and I appreciate that. Have a great day

Why can't you have inside and outside plywood walls? Then apply the skin.

Did you replace the water tank, or did you clean it out? Would you trust the water coming out of it, with it being so old? I have a 1974 Aspen, and was wondering about this.

This camper got a new ABS water tank. I replace all tanks in rebuilds. After 40+ years of who knows the water sources...yikes :)

I am in the middle of restoring my 68 aloha. 15'. I need to redo the panels on the ceiling. It looks like I am going to have to take the skin off and then take the beams out to get to the ceiling. New plywood and then put back together. Does this sound about right? thank you

Hi, what is the approximate cost of these type of RVs you restore/ rebuild
@vintagecamperrescueseattle
@vintagecamperrescueseattle 4 ай бұрын
Varies on time and materials. Frame ups average about 200 / 250 hrs and about 5 to 6 in materials, depending on metal pricing and fit n finish requests. Works out an avg of 1500 per linear foot lenght.

it was the original skins. A previous owner looks like it was brush painted. We scuffed, primed and repainted with single stage spray.

Whow, I live in the heart of Amish country here in Ohio, and never heard of these before. NuCamps travel trailers are made right down the road from me in Sugarcreek, are also built by mostly Amish and they to are really well built. Looking forward to the outcome. Subscribed.

History (from tin can tourist) They were produced in the 50’s and early 60’s by Martin Metzendorf of West Farmington, Ohio, approximately 10 miles northwest of Warren, Ohio. Martin (my great-uncle) and his wife had the trailers built with Amish laborers, she picked out the interior patterns and colors. They delivered most of the trailers themselves until a delivery accident deprived my great-aunt of her arm. They sold the business in the early 60’s and the trailer was produced for a few more years under the Metzendorf name, I believe they closed the doors in ’63 but I’m not 100% on that. If their is a real interest out there I might be able to piece together some facts from my relatives, but admittedly they’re all a touch fuzzy on events from forty years ago. - Brin Metzendorf

I've got a Ward stove out of '56 Cal-Craft that I'm about to start working on, but it is ROUGH. It'll be pretty if I can get it cleaned up though, so fingers crossed. And I also like a white wrap with wooden finished walls; it does brighten things up and feels a tad more contemporary.
