Mayor Johnson let’s have the courage to include the trenches when discussing solutions… the past 60 years has consisted of well intentioned attempts to impact disinvested communities - my investors who are sincerely and very seriously considering unprecedented amounts of private money into North Lawndale and other communities - the overwhelming number 1 concern that is preventing private investors from committing to moving forward is the fact they don’t see the city including the entire community in discussions. The fact that this demographic is taken for granted - programs sound good however there is never anything to replace what - for better or worse - will be a realistic alternative to their #1 economy within the community - vice. This isn’t the forum however you are such a revolutionary bold Mayor - I believe you may be the Mayor with the courage to include the young men in the trenches in discussions about regenerating these communities. Interests are aligned - what an amazing unity event last night with Goalden Chyld Bo Deal and Rhymefest - I have a trade school who wants to come into the community they are established in 7 other states and have relationships with the union that allows for apprenticeship to be only 2 months as opposed to 2 years with journeymen starting at $50 an hour plus benefits… you are a busy man however we are all on the same team and it’s time for new ideas and new strategies.
