i usually get yellow blasters if they have a good price so i can harvest the shells and the springs.

How does this compare to a commercial IDV style arrow? I would imagine it hits softer but flies slower?

I've used the commercial ones and they breakdown way to fast. I have been using this design for years and they last. Hits just as as solid no mistaking when someone is hit. No bruise or injury after many larps.
