Good video! Thank you. FYI; if you gently sandpaper (1200 up grain) the cylinder after cutting the top and bottom off, you'll get flat and even sides.

Yeah I read there are stress fractures in the subframes and main carriage frames , means the whole thing must come off for a good solid check and weld prep.

Asbestos isn't a major problem, easy to replace with mineral fibre used today. The only problem was the old dielectric mineral oil in the power transformer. It was a dead ringer because nobody makes the bakelite frame transformers anymore and that oil was the only stuff that worked in those bakelite units. If you chx out the power unit it will work fine.

Thank you that was a atlas so I turned to DCC I literally bought that at a train place. And it was five dollars in fact, sometimes I see those locomotives in action for regular or use where I live
