Interesting instrument (stunning tones).............. is this the internal reverb I'm hearing? How are you feeling about this piece of gear a year later?
@NGC0Music16 күн бұрын
Hey Will! Thanks for watching. The reverb you hear is either a plugin (VintageVerb) or the Strymon Nightsky, I can’t remember which. I still have the GR-1, and even though I haven’t used it much, I have plans for it on my upcoming album, once you learn it, it’s hard to let it go and find a replacement.

Great video, I really enjoyed your playing and the demonstration of the product… I do have a question though… a lot of the sounds seem to have a lot of treble and not a lot of bass… maybe its just my headphones. I wanted to get your opinion on this. Do you find the bass response adequate on most of the presets?
@NGC0Music2 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching. Honestly, I felt the bass was pretty good when I tried to create bass patches. And in fact, the filter resonance doesn’t attenuate the bass like most filters do, which feels strange, but is great for big dirty bass synth patches.

If they' had called it something else rather than saying it was an new iteration of an existing synth, it might have garnered better reviews.

550 is the right price. Roland usually overprice their stuff and it becomes popular way too late (sometimes when model is discounted). Not sure why companies doing that but hey, what can we do. Congrats! Christmas is around the corner, it's a good idea to save 3-4 hundreds for a holidays!
@NGC0Music2 ай бұрын
@@djkanyon Fully agree with you. It’s built very well, so a good synth for gigging a lot, which may explain the higher price tag. If you consider the Minilogue XD with 4 voices, mini keys and much much less capabilities costs around 500 new, we understand why the Gaia 2 was priced a bit higher. Everything is overpriced

The CS-80 will never escape being associated with Vangelis and the Blade Runner sound track, and for good reason. I remember watching Loopop review Deckard's Dream and he did so with a CXM 1978, mentioning that it itself was a replicant of a reverb pedal used back in the days of the CS-80. Love hearing these soundscapes, they really sell me on what a keyboard or synth are capable of. Absolutely beautiful. Liked and subscribed. Thank you!
@BullyMaguire4ever2 ай бұрын
CXM is more like inspired by the Lexicon reverbs, than an actual clone.
@NGC0Music2 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching. Vangelis indeed made the CS80 his signature sound, we cannot think of one without remembering of the other, literally 2 beasts in their own realm. I had the Deckard’s Dream for a while, and although it sounded amazing, it was not as inmediate as the Muse. The CXM is inspired on the Lexicon reverb, which I guess is from around the same time the CS80 was around? It’s an expensive combo, but you heard how gorgeous it is.
@Wagoo2 ай бұрын
The CXM uses the Meris Mercury 7 engine.. that is very much inspired by the classic Lexicon 224 rack units that Vangelis used. It came out 1 year after the CS-80.. match made in heaven
