Lydon was clearly out of his depth with Grundy in this interview. In fact it's only Matlock and Jones that come off the better for it. To me, Lydon just feels like a naughty schoolboy being told off by his teacher. I truly believe it was this incident that Lydon was forced to re-evaluate and toughen himself up with any future journalist interviews. He knew if he didn't then he'd be eaten alive. You can almost feel the embarrasment emanating from him.

Typical Pistols hype. Superseded by even more hype. Paul Cook isn't a big talker even now. They were young, they'd had a few jars and probably some wizz or mandies which contributed. Grundy was full of whisky as were most men in the public eye in the mid 1970s. It's gone down in punk legend. For its time its controversial though.

Pretty tame really. Sex pistols were a manufactured shower exploiting the show for what they could get. Notice they didnt push the envelope too far in case they got banned and the money dried up. Lydon said 'nothing' like a kid challenged by a strict teacher. Gutless. Grundy was such a twat.
