@@ronvandevorst3168 It's ET38 but it's 5x114.3. We machined new front hubs and used a Ford 8.8 Explorer rear axle for new bolt pattern. 😏 With a shortened Explorer diff (the diff center is offset, so just have to shorten one side to match the other) and those hubs can use ET38 front and rear.

@@5533851 Any chance you can post pictures of the turbo setup under the hood? What was your turbo sourced from? Intercooler? Did you use the stock 152T exhaust manifold for mounting your turbo setup? Asking because I have a 1965 Scout 80 with a NA 304 bored .030 with 262cam, port and polish, 1.6/1.7 lifters and tbi... 3.73 on 33s... I noticed freeway speed ~70-75mph uphill power really lacking, could use a few more horsepower. 92mph on Texas freeway.
@5533851
@5533851 Жыл бұрын
@@michaeljames5346 I'll try to find some pics. The turbo was not visible under the hood. It used stock exhaust manifolds feeding into a custom crossover pipe with a T3 turbo flange. The turbo was located down low, remotely, under the passenger side exhaust manifold. The turbo had a bracket hanging it from a side bellhousing bolt It, so it was not just the crossover pipe that supported it's weight. It used an electric scavenge pump to push oil back up into the rocker cover. It was similar to a diesel in performance. Lots of low down torque that topped out quick.

Very nice car! I love the ls3 Corvette engine covers. And the yellow color and wheels. I have a 1990 244 lm7 5.3, big summit 8707 cam, brt pushrods and trunion, tbss, 92mm tb, and longtube headers. It has a Nissan z32 5spd twin turbo trans and a ford 8.8 3.73 with spool. Has 80s Corvette sawblade wheels with 5x120 35mm hub spacers with kuhmo ecsta xs tires. What does yours usually run for coolant temps? With the summit big rad and "16 spal fan I usually see around 190-195 in 80° weather. Just ordered and hptuners as was Dyno tuned but never removed the 99mph limiter from the truck pcm.

The car shure looks more fun than a stock Redblock Volvo. How is the handling with all that extra weight in the front? Did you have to make any major suspension changes to compensate?
@5533851
@5533851 2 жыл бұрын
The weight distribution is better than stock. The short alloy V8 is set all the way back and very low, 80% over or behind the front cross member. The majority of the added weight comes from the much heavier trans and diff in the middle/rear of the car.

With the z32 twin turbo 5pd trans and cammed 5.3 was only 3180 with me in it and that's with a ford 8.8 in the back. A 4cyl 240 weighs around 2900-3000 lbs (I'm only 155). And half the engine is behind the front tires. Still full interior and stock 12 gallon tank.

Plus a z32 trans is about $300-$400 lol.. this one was fresh rebuild so more like $1200 but still less then a t6060 I imagine? Plus the 5.3 can be had for about $500. Still managed 390whp and 400wtq with cam, intake, headers and simple tune. Does have new head gasket so, pushrods, rebuilt heads, timing chain, oil pump, and head bolts. Still only around $1500 not counting full exhaust work of course.

ALL ENGINES ESPECIALLY PUSHROD V8'S LOVE BOOST ! AS LONG AS YOIR HEADS FLOW GOOD AND YOUR NOT OVERBOOSTING A STOCK ENGINE , THEN YOU'VE GOT YOURSELF A WINNER ! HELL WITH A CHEVY LS ENGINE YOU CAN USE FACTORY PARTS AND EASILY GET 1000HP RELIABLY IF YOU USE THE RIGHT PARTS AND GET A GOOD COMPUTER AND TUNING OF COURSE.
