This would of been a good chance to put downlights in :P and agree the alround band is a godsend! for the edges I would use beading, around £3 odd for each one around 2.4m odd from b&q (prob better price/lengths from proper merchants), Only suggestion random bits, as been through this the past few years in my place haha, good luck my dude :P

I'm confused why are you trying to get the electrics signed off if you're the only person that's going to live there and eventually the house will be knocked down.
@richardr27162 күн бұрын
Because he wants to make sure it’s safe to use ect plus if it’s not certified and he has a electrical fire the insurance won’t pay out
@OrionWhittle2 күн бұрын
I have some sparky mates that offered to cert it so I know I’m doing a correct job & that I can learn the right practices for the future. Felt like a good opportunity to learn all those things whilst I am in a house that is getting knocked down. As of today, I won’t be getting a cert signed off but will have advice / approval on what I’m doing for peace of mind whilst I live there :)

Youre doing a great job orion and its nice that family are helping too take a break from it and when you feel a lot less stress then come back to it but when youre ready take care

From experience, if you have a month, it would be easier to do the kitchen before you move in. Once you are in, it makes it nearly impossible to do anything in the kitchen because you always need to start late because of breakfast and finish early because you need to put the kitchen back together for dinner. It took me 2 years to get our kitchen done, as I decided to do it last.
@OrionWhittle2 күн бұрын
I will be, to let you in on what’s what; basically I’m focussing on what I mentioned in the video but once the baby is born I’ll be off for 4 weeks to be with family, finish off the house (the kitchen etc) & move out/in. So it’ll be done (in theory) before we’re actually living there :) just some family politics around it with my mum and dad doing their own parts of the house is all
@Will-fielding3 күн бұрын
No pva before you put the plaster or base on means it'll most likely not adhere properly🙈 but look as long as it works and you're happy then it's irrelevant, take care of yourself orion and thanks for the vlog 👌

We brushed a PVA Water mix in ever chase, I just don’t show me doing it lol, if you look back at the ones already done on the bedroom you can see the shine on the wall where my mum absolutely leathered it 🤣 thanks

@OrionWhittle3 күн бұрын
Thank you! It’s not actually, it’s a neighbouring farm down the road & the landowner just wants to knock it down along with some other farm houses nearby. Dont actually know why but hoping we can make it too pretty to destroy!

Hi Orion. Awesome video as always! I fully appreciate the stresses of doing the renovation yourself... just finished fully renovating my house over the last couple years whilst working full time and studying to become an accountant after hours. I know it can be really overwhelming - maybe think/agree what the bare minimum level of readiness is and focus on that. It might help to relieve some of the stresses of trying to juggle the whole project! Anyway, it's looking great! It's actually closer to being done than you think, I reckon!
@OrionWhittle3 күн бұрын
Thank you! Congratulations, I think there is a degree of you’re never actually finished renovating a house but as long as we get it liveable, I’m happy!

The wiring is looking good, annoying it can’t be done in some places. The plastering also looks really nice, did a pretty good job
@OrionWhittle3 күн бұрын
Ah it’ll be fine! I’m really hoping the plaster turns out well!
@phatputer4 күн бұрын
I know you mentioned your plans a few videos back but how long are you planning on being in this place? Given it's ultimately going to be demolished you are doing an incredibly tidy job. I know I would struggle to be enthusiast about that.
@OrionWhittle3 күн бұрын
We’re here for a minimum of 2.5 years, maybe longer & we decided to do a decent job of it in hopes that it becomes too pretty to knock down. Plus it’s an opportunity to learn, make content & feel homely for the 2-3 years we are here :)
@phatputer3 күн бұрын
@@OrionWhittle always take an opportunity to learn, and 2-3 years would be a bit long to be staring at poorly installed fixtures and fittings or trunking running up walls, so would say it was the right call.. in the end still going to be a lot of work that I am glad you are doing and not me :D
