Theres defintely a stigma to it. And I feel your pain about the treatment being different if you do. I never had it on my cv, but was always honest about it during medical assessment, and had jobs taken away. But I'm still standing in an engineering field where I was told that I will never be able to be in regardless of ability. Stay strong and remain positive Good luck on your journey. Ive never spoken about itbecause of the stigma to it and the fear of being treated different.

As someone who got diagnosed about a year ago and is in her mid-20s, it feels really comforting finally finding a resource for other young folk with epilepsy. more often than not the forums seem to be populated by people in their 40s and 50s who've been dealing with this for years or even decades, whereas it's still new for me, so seeing other young people with the same condition makes me feel less alone. thank you to this organization

That’s odd. When I had Seizures in School my Teacher called my Mom to drive me home which must had been quite awkward because my Mom and Dad were in the Army National Guard.

If a teacher doesn't feel able to manage a student's seizure, it's understandable they may only feel able to reach out to the parents no matter where they are.

Unfortunately there may be a lack of support or understanding for children with epilepsy which can make an already pressured time of life even more difficult. That's why it's so important to ensure every child has an Individual Healthcare Plan which informs school staff of a child's condition, their triggers and the appropriate course of action.
