As an independent researcher, I have found compelling evidence that the real author of "The Raven" was Mathew Franklin Whittier, the younger brother of famous Quaker poet John Greenleaf Whittier. He wrote it, as I believe, in December of 1841, based on real-life circumstances. Therefore, any "inferences" were based on Mathew's actual experience, not on Edgar Allan Poe's imagination. In fact, the poem is literal autobiography up until the point that the raven enters the room. Poe wrote no poems like "The Raven" before he obtained a copy from Mathew in early 1842; and he had not used the name "Lenore" prior to this time. His explanation of how he supposedly wrote it, in his essay, "The Philosophy of Composition," is merely another scam. Mathew had written several poems in roughly this same style and meter, in the years before "The Raven" was published. Mathew was the one who anonymously published it first, in the February, 1845 edition of "American Review," signing "---- Quarles."
