Thank you, I appreciate you watching! My tent’s 84” long and 52” wide, and the bars underneath it that connect to my crossbars are spaced roughly 26 1/4” apart (29 3/4” outer to outer edge). I still have stock crossbars and it doesn’t fit perfect on them, but has worked so far! Haha

@@Morgan.Bentley Thank you so much for the reply! Ok awesome! The tent I got is 83x52 so basically the same measurements and I also have stock crossbars on my 2016 Crosstrek. Are your rails rated to hold a rooftop tent? I thought only the wilderness models were able to support the weight of a tent and people?
@Morgan.Bentley
@Morgan.Bentley 2 ай бұрын
@@Squirrel.in.the.wild_13 Yeah, but not by much! I think the dynamic weight holds around 150-60lbs, says don’t go over 170lbs, and static around 700-750 (could be a little off, but I think it’s right around that). My tent weighs around 140, so it’s pretty close, but with my wife + all of our stuff we’re a couple hundred under the static weight still. It’s held up so far, but I was a bit worried at first. I’ve had it a bit over a year now, and it still worries me a bit on longer trips, but it’s held up great so far *knock on wood*

I recently added an Inspired Overland RTT to my 2024 Subaru Forester Wilderness and was wondering if you took a MPG hit? My RTT weighs 78 lbs so it's pretty light and is also a slim 4 1/2 profile. My average MPG dropped about 4 to 5 MPG and in a headwind it's even more. I usually drive around 65 to 70 MPH. How's your's doing?
@Morgan.Bentley
@Morgan.Bentley 2 ай бұрын
I did, but not much honestly. Before I averaged around 28 - 34mpg and after 26 - 32. So roughly 2 - 4mpg hit on average I’d say. I got new tires (a lot more aggressive) a few months ago though and those did a lot more damage to gas mileage. I bet that looks nice on your Forester! Out of curiosity, do you have stock cross bars, or others? Because mine are stock and I noticed they sit really low, so that’s been one of my worries when looking for new ones. Others seem to sit up higher, so I think might drop my gas mileage a little more
@subiesojourner777
@subiesojourner777 2 ай бұрын
@@Morgan.Bentley I have the Rino Rack Crossbars crossbars. They are relatively low and aerodynamic. I'm thinking about coming up with some type of a wind deflector but since the Inspired Overland is a Toneu material, there isn't a way to mount it on the face of the RTT.

You didn’t, I totally forgot to touch on that. There isn’t any specific branding on this one. This is why im struggling with purchasing a RTT for my gladiator. What you are saying is you paid $100 a night so stay in a tent on your car.
@Morgan.Bentley
@Morgan.Bentley 3 ай бұрын
Are you’re talking about the overall price vs how many times I’ve stayed in it? I’ve only had it one single year, and camped probably 20-25 times overnight in it, and popped it up to relax for a nice evening and nap Idek how many other times. I don’t look at it as far as how much it costs me per night because what about several years down the road and a couple hundred stays later? At that point it’ll technically be $’s spent for camping. I guess it really just depends on how much you’ll be camping because even if you buy a $500 tent, but only camp 5 nights a year, at that point you’re paying $100 a night to camp in a regular tent too for that first year. So I guess it’s really just however you want to look at it. Ps, I paid around $1.5k for this tent, so with my overnight stays + naps/ evenings relaxed in it I’d say I’ve probably used it around 50 times, on the low end. So that is around $30 per use, after just one year. Again, I don’t look at it like that because after another year that number should realistically half, as long as I use it as much as I did again. I don’t like spending money, but personally have been more than happy with this purchase so far, and would 100% buy one again.

Biggest question I would ever have pertains to weather worthiness. Is it 100% water proof in heavy rain? Also as to the make and model of the tent?
@Morgan.Bentley
@Morgan.Bentley 3 ай бұрын
It seems to be completely waterproof when shut. I haven’t seen any signs of water damage, so far at least. (I did forget to let it dry out one night after camping in some rain, and it did get some mold on it, but I got it cleaned off.) As far as the make and model, there isn’t any specific branding on this one. It’s similar to the roofnest falcon 3 xl (closest thing I’ve found to it), but my dad had ordered a few of these from someone and I just got one from him. Lol He had reached out to a manufacturer directly somehow.

Without the rooftop tent I typically got 28-34mpg, then with I get 26-32ish. However, I recently got new, more aggressive tires and this did a lot more to the mpg than the tent.
