Sure!! Comprehensive eye exams are recommended every year to every other year not just for prescription updates but also for health check up ~

Most Optometry programs in the states is a Doctorate degree ~ but I believe The University of Houston (UH) College of Optometry offers a two-year Master of Science (M.S.) program that includes 30 semester hours of coursework and research, a research project, and teaching experience?

I graduated with my bio degree in 2021 and am very interested in optometry school and think it could be fascinating career. I keep coming across content like yours and I have become more and more interested. I want to learn more about the career and need to get some shadowing experience. What do you think is the best and easiest way to reach out to optometrists about shadowing? I feel awkward about it and don’t want to be annoying lol.

Hi! I think emailing is the least awkward! You can explain to them like you just did why you want to shadow. I would look for private practices and try to email the doctor directly or office manager directly. You can also call the front desk and ask to speak to the optometrist on site, and they'll most likely give you a call back when they can talk! Lmk if you have any other questions 😬
