Why don't you run that parker pilot house anymore?
@merrymarlin1
@merrymarlin1 4 жыл бұрын
The Parker was a great and stable platform when the kids were younger with a possibility of staying warm in winter... As the boys started to commercial fish more we got tired of having to bring coolers onboard. Also in rough seas it would kill your back while the contenders run smoothly and can easily hold 1000+ lbs of fish!

using 80w setups? also what rod? and lastly are you backing off on the drag a ton in order to move the rod up to the bow?
@merrymarlin1
@merrymarlin1 4 жыл бұрын
80s are plenty for any fish in the ocean! Was partial to Capt. Harry rods in the past but the boys had some Custom made Calstars built with a little softer tip better for the end game in the rod holder... We don't fish very heavy drags and with a little over 20 lbs, easy to mover to the bow.

What’s your cruise numbers with the F200s? Found a 25 open just the hull and want to repower.

Graham Compton Hi Graham. I just watched this video and figured I would answer. I just finished doing a repower on a 2005 Contender center console. Here's what I got during the test run. Twin Yamaha F200 outboards running 14 1/4 X 18 Reliance series SDS props. Cruising at about 3300 RPM-25MPH 2.6-2.7 MPG. Top speed around 51MPH. Could probably spin 19 pitch props because I was turning pretty close to 6k at full throttle but I didn't have a pair on hand for testing. 1/2 tank of fuel, one person on board.. Mounting hole three. Did not have GPS speed tied in, owner needed NMEA cable. Hope that helps

@@johnpatt9047thanks for giving some info to Graham as I had not seen this message. We have a new 28T that replaced the old 25... I always forget the exact size of our props but they are smaller than on our old boat and numbers are better to get the full rpms around 5900 with 52 mph. Cruising around 3800 Loaded around 28 to 30 mph and 2.1-2.2

Are you guys commercial, because if your not that certainly was overkill! I used to fish rod/reel commercial but we brought tons of ice to keep them fresh. Flavour changes if not kept cold.

How much fuel do you all burn out of OI with that setup? What type boat length is it?
@merrymarlin1
@merrymarlin1 5 жыл бұрын
Kind of depends how many hours you stay out. This is the 30 ft Contender which burns 80 to 85 gallons. Our 28 Ft burns 60 or less if you catch a fish early...
@christopherwebb7940
@christopherwebb7940 5 жыл бұрын
@@merrymarlin1 I thought it might be a contender. OI is usually a 45 to 50 Mile run to the fishing grounds. I like the idea of fighting the fish from the front of the boat.
