Camden Park had an epic arcade in the late 80s/early 90s... EDIT: The place should be an official historic landmark, honestly. I know it's run down, but some of the rides/attractions are literally 100 years old or more.

Just the severe ugliness of the park and the amateur nature of the rides made me think an accident could happen at any time.

I guess when your state is a 3rd world country the parks match. Literally looks like something I would find in Cuba or Domincan.

I’m a Huntingtonian, born and raised here, and a former employee of the park . The thing with Camden is that while it is something of a local joke that it really needs some love (we ALL make jokes about the Big Dipper’s structural integrity), we all cherish it as a nostalgic slice of childhood. Nearly all of us have gone on school trips or during church excursions or hospital picnics. In a way, it’s a repository for vintage rides and games. Both the Big and Little Dippers are two of the last three remaining roller coasters made by National Amusement Devices (66 and 61 years old, respectively!) still in operation, the carousel is 117 years old, the Haunted House (105 years) is one of only two gravity-operated dark rides left in the US by its manufacturer, and The Whip (100 years) and its sister the Kiddie Whip (94 years) are also rare rides. Most of the Kiddie Land rides are in the 70-80 ballpark too. We also have had a lot of rides that have, sadly, gone to that Big Scrapyard in the Sky (RIP Spider, Enterprise, Thunderbolt Express, Hot Cat, Hurricane, Bullseye/Rainbow,, Skydiver, and Dodgem Cars; you are all dearly missed). Quite a few of the attractions and the midway aren’t shown in this video, and all the action like musical acts at the amphitheater only take place in June and July, but hey, you hit the majority of the marquee rides. We may joke about it, but we still love it. Camden Park is irreplaceable. It would just be nice if it could get the love and refurbishment it needs, or even new versions of the rides it used to have. I would love to see a new inverted Ferris wheel like the Enterprise, or a new Hurricane ride, or a new Spider! We have empty spaces where some of the old rides once were, so it’s not like we don’t have the room for new stuff. It’s just a question of money. I’m glad you enjoyed your visit!

This is my home park ❤️ we always say the threat of the rides breaking down is half the thrill 😅 but in all seriousness, I always have a great time. Lines are super short, hardly any walking. Keep your expectations low snd you will enjoy it. Its no kings Island, but more like a stationary carnival. The Big Dipper is really surprisingly fun for a small coaster.

Really wish some ride company would invest in this place and then use it as proof of concrpt for their rides a type of test park where they could have”display” rides

Spent a lot of time there when i was a kid. I even worked there when i was a teenager. I had so many girlfriends around that place. Years later i started taking my own kids there and eventually they got tired of it. It used to be a nice park when i was a little kid but nowadays its just a dirty old park thats been ran into the ground. There is no reason to go there anymore unless you are just bored. The rides are old and falling apart. No money coming into that place now. I can remember when i was a young boy and there wouldnt even be any parking spaces available because of all the people going there back in the 80s. There used to be lots of attractions and fun things to do there. My brother won $1000 there when we played bingo there next to the sky lift ride. Now the entire parking lot is empty most of the time. Eventually the train will be about the only thing left and then ol Wal Mart will move in. We live about 3 hours away from there now so we havent been there for a couple years but that place has been through a lot. I dont think there is any bringing it back to life.

LOL im 13 my mom worked there my dad kinda worded there the little boat spiiny thing by the pond he built the deck for that I cut dried corn stocks (flauttershocks) for the spooktacular event my family knows the owner perty well. and I'm going tomorrow! I can smell the oil and grease of the rides now. I've only have had one bad time at the park we was getting on the train and someone did not go in line and just hopped on and my sister said it was her when she did not, but I got cussed out for it by the train driver, and a lady so I belive the train driver don't work there no more

@@fairlyamused that's where I live. I'm 50 and in the 70s and 80s there were a lot of struggling families in the area. Camden Park was affordable and close. I have been to a couple of larger parks and I know that their rides are so much better, but Camden Park is a childhood staple for folks my age. Much nostalgia associated with that ole place.

The horror as a child of the sky lift with minimal safety belts able to slip to a broken ankle or leg. The fun horror of surviving the Big Dipper Roller Coaster as old nailed boards creaked and groaned to the max capacity of the 100 year old coaster. The best one that doesn't exist no more was the pioneer scene on the train ride of a group of native American firing into a house of settlers firing back with muskets that were powered by propane to give off the loud reports of simulated gun fire. The tommy gun alley and the never disappearing red star or the haunted house. I love Camden park I wish they would repair the Big Dipper. ...

I live fairly close to Camden Park on the Ohio side and used to go there a lot as a kid. I haven't been there in many years though. Of course I also have King's Island which isn't too far that I went to as well and occasionally made the trip up to Cedar Point. I don't remember how it looked when I was a kid in the 90s but sad to see it kinda run down.
