Some scientists think that whales breach for communication but I sometimes think they also do that to knock the barnacles off of them. You can see some barnacles fly off of one at 0:55. Or maybe it’s an interesting way of surfacing for air.

Whale breaching. Could the change in water pressure as the whale moves from several hundred feet down up into free air give the whales a sort of adrenaline rush (or a hit with the whale equivalent of heroin).

ざとう鯨はとても穏やかで楽しいそして多分、人間を信じているのではと思う事が有ります。 捕鯨されなくなりその個体数も増加して、人間の前でもジャンプを良く披露してくれます。が、この個体も人々の前で、はっきりと「胸」を見せています。 そこには、フジツボ等がかなり着いていたと思います。 もしかして、彼らは人々に「取って、取って、」と訴えているのでは、ないでしょうか。？？？？？？？ まっこう鯨等は深海１６００m位は軽く潜りますし、水圧のせいか、フジツボ等は着いていません。 ざとう鯨はフジツボ等を取りたくて、ジャンプしているとも思えてきます。？？？

Used to love whale watching off the east coast of the US. Always the highlight of our extended trip there. But now as the only driver has reached 70 car rental for non residents are no longer allowed by rental companies there, we will just have to have our wonderful memories of times gone by.
