I am glad that I found this video. I received my Agon in the mail yesterday. I am going to set it up today and begin using it. I have wanted to learn Forth for some time now. I am 57 years old and became interested in computers back in the early 1980's. Thank you for making this video.

I found the link to the arduino sketch, but Google Drive wouldn't let me download it, claiming that too many people had downloaded it recently - like that's at all likely. Please, please, put these things on one of the popular repo sites, so people can actually get to them without battling with Google's new found uselessness, or selling their souls to Mark SuckerBorg.

Can the state of the running forth system be dumped (e.g. via XMODEM over the console) to derive a new image from a running system without having to use the system source code or is there a more complex bootstrap sequence than just copying a certain memory range from ROM to RAM and jumping to the entry point?

This is an inspiring project, I absolutely love it! As a FORTH beginner, it has so much to offer in terms of solutions, ways to get things to work, astonishing! I have downloaded the project from Github already and started reading the sources. I admire computer archeology, and this is an excellent example. Please, keep up this kind of work, it is a valuable part of our culture :) Can't thank you enough, and also a big thank you to the Forth2020 group for this video!

35:00 start showing multi-task in colorForth... quite interesting... wish Howerd could have lived in Amish village and continue his works on a iPad. Can colorForth be implemented on old iPads? ( early version 1 etc.. I have a bunch of them. I bought Chuck's board in 2012 but never am able enough to make it working for my 'limited' understanding...so it is becoming harder and harder to boot colorForth on new hardwares? How do we deal with _that_?

I totally agree with Leo! I understand the purpose of object orientation. But as I just write code for small applications for use in our little company the overhead of OO is not worth the extra work! In addition to that my code will not be more readable. I have to admit that I use tcl. It's so easy to build something that just do the work! But for reasons of speed and because I'm curious I'm interested in Forth or C.

For Jason Tay's FPGA benchmark comparisons, (as I understand it) Mecrisp Stellaris RA (Register Allocation) version code needs to be explicitly advised to 'fold' it's registers with the esoteric '1-foldable', '2-foldable' '3-foldable' etc words suffixed before the semi-colon of each compiled word. This hints to the compiler that Mecrisp may allocate 1, 2 or 3+ etc values to unused ARM registers (if available) instead of just TOS plus memory fetching as usual. In addition to a lack of HW multiply on ARM M0, this might unfairly hamper any benchmarks that have not facilitated this acceleration feature.

@AlgoCompSynth I'm curious to hear why these particular instructions are specifically given as key ones to eliminate. Apparently they're some crutch that's being abused a lot? Can you explain the issue and why/how people should typically code without them? Curious to know more about the apparent experience that has driven this determination by you & Chuck. Thanks!
