Fun fact. It was actually confirmed that the GM 3.8 V6 was used as the engine noise for the muscle cars in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.

I've never owned a Cherokee XJ, but I drove a year 2001 one as a company vehicle for a couple years, it was such a fun vehicle to drive. Next to my (1983) Jeep CJ5, it was definitely the most fun, nimble, quick vehicle I've ever driven. Speaking of my CJ5, I'm currently equipping it with the 4.0L HO engine I removed from a 1992, Limited Cherokee. It was a wonderful Cherokee with the leather seats and beautiful factory aluminum wheels. However, whomever owned that Cherokee (it was in a Jeep salvage yard) didn't care for the engine as well as they should have. I had an expert engine builder rebuild it to factory specs. Looking fwd to running my CJ w/the 4.0L. Cheers from Arizona.

I'm little late to your review. I just inherited my mothers 300m she no longer needs 2 cars so its being shipped to me from 2300 miles away, I've always liked these cars and she knows I will take care of it. it only has 77,000 miles on it as well as being garage kept its entire life. Americans have a love affair with loud engines, they say loud pipes save lives. as for this paticular 3.5 liter its got a very throaty sound to it. yours is no different. thanks for the review. ill probably more than likely add the euro package front end to my new acquisition just to make it stand out. these cars just aren't seen in America anymore.

Good looking car, but the 2.7 liter engine is has oil sludge problems, so if you're buying one make sure it has the 3.5 liter engine. Otherwise it won't last long at all.

One thing I’ve learned is never leave a GM car with automatic locks running with the doors and windows closed. They have a tendency to lock you out after a while

My one came with the ( ultra rare ) “discrete” extra durable leather on the base of the driver seat intended for the driver that breaks wind much more than average. They sure did think of everything when they designed this absolute gem 👌
