This was shown on the film "Two of Us" where John and Paul considered going, being that they were a block from the studio.

Had they gone to the show to perform, actual reunion talks could have happened. The band getting back together would mean John moving back to england, and maybe he would still be with us. How one choice, one split second, shapes history.

Christmas is not even a christian holiday! It was stolen, just like most of the bible was, from paganism and then renamed "christmas". Also, god has been disproven until gid can be proven... if god really is "all powerful and all knowing". Still to this day, nobody has been able to come up with how to even prove god. Still to this day, everybody has been wrong about the world ending.

"Until god can", not "until gid can". Sorry about that! I don't like to edit my comments because it kind of discredits a trust in the original comment.

No, "you can divide it anyway you want, if you want to give Ringo less, it's up to you". He did not seem to care too much about nice equal 4 parts. ;)

The irony of this is that when this offer was made on live TV, Paul wasn't actually with John in The Dakota. It was the following week when they were together in The Dakota and John was telling Paul about the previous week's show and the offer. Lorne Michaels made the offer again and they said ''Shall we go down''? How great it would have been if they did.

I wouldn't have got myself out of bed for only $3000. An insulting offer to one of the best bands ever! This was a joke though I think.

Yes, that was the joke. Saturday Night Live is a comedy programme. That said, I'd take three thousand dollars to play three songs. Deffo.

Funniest thing about this is that John Lennon and Paul McCartney were in New York at Lennon's apartment watching SNL the night this episode aired. They almost grabbed their equipment and took a cab to the studio to crash SNL and play a show. But both were tired and decided not to. Thus, what would have been one of rock and roll's most memorable moments never happened.

Possible. But around this era, there have been a lot of offers for the four to reunite, so it may be also influenced by the hype around them reuniting.

For those Austin Powers fans.... Mike Myers (who obviously based his Dr. Evil on Lorne Michaels) got his idea for his 'one million dollar ransom' request from other cast members making fun of this sketch.
