Totally agree. That's what we're aiming at. Final stage is a challenge, though. A NOS rear muffler with that nice, thin tail pipe!
Thank you for your comment! I was not aware of when the wing mirror rules changed! But honestly, I don't think Japanese cars were ever inferior. Certainly not since the mid-1960s. My マツダ カペラ ロータリー クーペ from 1972 is more comfortable, better looking, and faster than a 1972 BMW 2002. It is also easier to work on and made from thicker steel. Sadly, people in the West tended to look down on Japanese cars back then. They were seriously wrong!

When they were in production, owners would greet others by holding up their hands showing so many fingers to indicate how many replacement engines their car had received.
@xntrcshft3 ай бұрын
@@chrisst8922 More precisely: After 1970, each finger signified one time the owner had drained the car of oil to provoke an engine seizure a few hundred miles before the warranty expired. NSU received thousands of seized engines, coincidentally with mileage just under the warranty limit and topped up with fresh engine oil. The initial problems seen on early engines was solved, but the generous warranty meant customers preferred using that warranty from running their cars without one. In the short term a handy way to get a new engine, in the long term an efficient way to bankrupt a small, creative auto manufacturer. ;^)

@@xntrcshft ok so why dosnt it sell for over 100,000 dollars like rotary mazdas do? its simply not attractive in its styling, it has no character, it dosnt look tuff or cheeky, its bland. it has no racing history like rotary mazdas do, nobody relates to them, as the car they got "hooked" on rotaries on a first ride, its nothing.Rotaries are known for anoying the normies, being fast obnoxious and loud, nsu ro80 is none of that. nsu rotaries are not as collectable as mazda rotaries, they just dont cut it. i know nsu was the first , i know all about rotary history, but it was mazda who perfected them.

Flott bil! Bor du oppe i nord?

The Mazda Roadpacer is an Australian Holden body with a 13B rotary engine and Mazda gearbox. Plus a lot of luxury extras, such as a refrigerator in the trunk. So it is not related to the Luce or other Mazda cars.
I got mine from PacPerformance in Australia. They are 1,5" lower and about 40% stiffer the originals with those dampers. Apparently, you can have other specifications made, too.

You're right. Nobody valued these cars back in the 80s. There were so many, and people had happily moved on to faster and more comfy rides. Classic car enthusiasts didn't think the Cortina was classic enough. Only by the late 90s did people start smiling and giving the thumbs up when you were out driving. Took some time to realize they were responding to the Cortina. I remember wondering why everyone suddenly seemed so happy. 🙂

@@jgfontanez8873 Sorry, I can't make a new video, cause I swapped that car for an Rx2 a few years back. I wouldn't call it quiet. It's got a good rasp and people hear you coming down the road well before they see you, but it's still reasonably civilised. That is until you give it some proper beans uphill in 2nd. That's more like taking off in a small plane. A very literal conversation stopper, if you want. My partner was not so keen on those noise levels. I thought it was the perfect compromise. Not too exhausting (sic) on a long drive either, and I did a few. And excellent build quality, too. Recommended!
