Thanks for the video. One request... Love the picture of your yard, but the camera keeps focusing on it and not the device in your hands. Plus it's all backlit from the sunshine and your view is in the dark 😢 Please consider a work desk with light behind / above you? Thanks again!

Wow, I wish I'd found this sooner. I had a dead G3 Pro a few years back, and it was a real bummer because they were expensive. I've got to look and see if I still have it. Thanks for the clever solution!

Thank you for the video, same issue for me I think. I noticed the lm5072 poe pd controller was very hot, and my camera gets power by usb, which led me here. Only problem is I have a G4 Pro camera and there aren't 5v solder points on the board like the g3. The usb power is directly on the MB. I'm wondering how I can bypass on the g4 pro.

You actually don't show the removal of the actual ignition switch inside the housing for thatis what a real video of this problem needs to be made because I can not find a video of such. Olease elaborate to include the real ignition switch you just show how to remove the cylinder not the switch so change the title please

Technically it's a transponder switch that reads the chip in the key/fob. The ignition switch is further down that the main ignition or power harness plugs into. These are also known to go bad. You unplug it and release some plastic tabs and it comes out. It's only a $30 part to replace. P/N 1685451004

Hi, it was just the stock tumbler, not aware of aftermarket ones, usually have to get one from a parts yard. I just removed it to remove one of the wafers that was being problematic. Any key that will turn the cylinder will work. You do not need to unhook the battery as long as you don't unhook the antenna box for the DAS or turn the key to the starter engage position. I suppose it wouldn't hurt if you are really concerned about accidentally unhooking something that could cause a DAS problem or if you are going to be repeatedly turning the key many times it may be prudent to do so as too many unread attempts on the DAS may cause an issue but I'm not 100 percent sure. Hope that helps, Thanks!

Hi, sorry for the late response, I would suggest a new controller, tracking down a problem of that nature requres a great deal of circuitry understanding and an oscilliscope along with a good working controller in order to compare readings , you may try to add an external adapter but I'm unsure if this is possible on a motionplus controller. Sorry I couldn't be of more help. Thanks!

Just bought a “like” new wii and I’m assuming that all these “not turning on” problems are the result of the same thing, battery corrosion? My situation is a bit different because when I first tried turning on the wii remote it was flashing waiting to connect to the console, once I tried to link it (after it stopped flashing) I used the red button to sync it properly. Once I did that it refused to turn on regardless of what batteries I put in or what I did to it. Any thoughts?
@fixitight6942
@fixitight6942 4 жыл бұрын
Hard to say, if you checked all the obvious battery connections you should get a blinking light on the controller if you hit the red button the back. It could be the battery prong that connects to the board inside or the fuse. Otherwise it would be the issues described in the video. Thanks!

It works for me. My remote lost power after being dropped on the ground. I reflow solder of two chips using soldering iron. It did not work the first time. I then used my phone, zoom into the pins, and saw some questionable connections. After reflowing several times on those questionable pins, it can be turned on, and work as normal now. Thanks for the tips. (Update after a week. The remote lost power again after working for several days. This time, the symptom was different. Last time, I still can measure some voltage in certain capacitors, and this time, I cannot measure anything. Also, I put in new batteries after fixing the issue. But within a week, the batteries was drained. Seems like my remote has more than contact issue. Will update if I am able to fix it again.)

Some insight I want to share is that there were a couple fuses on the bottom near the Sync button. I picked up a not-working black Wii Remote Plus, and after checking that the battery compartment was good, I found a break in the first fuse on the left with the positive battery terminal. I also checked the bigger gold fuse on the right side near the ground, but that was working. Shorting the first fuse temporarily turned the Wii Remote back on, so I found the fault! I can't imagine what would cause a fuse to fault.

All components age, some rechargeable batteries give off different voltages and could have caused some damage. You would most likely need a donor board to steal a working one from. Hope you got it fixed. Thanks!

Thank you for your video! I almost gave up until the part where you said something about corrosion and I found corrosion on my battery post (the same one you removed) I used some baking soda and water and got some of it off and nothing changed. Then I took a sharp knife and scraped some more off and no changes. I left the batteries in it and went to bed. I went to Walmart today and got some lemon juice and I came back home and picked up the controller and hit a button and it lit up! But I still opened it up again and got the rest of the corrosion off with the lemon juice! THANKS AGAIN!

I think my Wiimote with motion plus inside is from the Wii not Wii U. The motherboard has a completely different chip layout. This one has some serious battery acid corrosion. I cleaned it all out, but it still won't come on. Not sure which chips I need to heat up.
@tellyjoossens4186
@tellyjoossens4186 4 жыл бұрын
Jayme Thysell indeed this is a normal Wii remote. He doesn’t seem to know what those chips are apparently. The ‘little chip’ that maybe has cold solder issues is the acceleration sensor. It is known as ADXL330 and it’s end of life so chances era slim to find one if you break it. The chip next to it is the flash memory. The third chip on this side is an a/d convertor for the adxl330. On the other side the large broadcom chip is a bluetooth receiver and the smallest chip on this side is also flash memory for storing calibration data.

There may be newer models or may be a different MFG, this is an official Wiimote. Usually in a severe corrosion or liquid damage situation I let the device sit overnight to remove charge from the capacitors. I then take a brush and gently remove what I can of the corrosion, you may opt to add some alcohol at this phase as well to help remove debris. I then take lots of flux and gently heat the areas as the flux will do the best to clean everything and show any damaged spots on the board, solder, or chips. Anything beyond simple connection issues requires the use of serial or scope to determine failure points and is well beyond the scope of this video. Thanks!
