I really love the videos where you're a little more real w us because you have NO idea how much we relate. It's hard to watch people pretend theyre totally fine and everything is great when you're just barely holding your head above water some days. Wow i really loved this!! it made me feel inspired to art journal and now i think i will. I watched it all the way through and listened to you talking while also paying attention to what you were writing and drawing. I had a journal but it was just words, and didn't feel me. But now with this great idea i will feel so much more motivated to write the good things for each day!!

This is cool how you do your art journal. I used to art journal by making my life into a comic. I would exaggerate the good and the bad I would alter to not so bad. recently theres this one thought that i get most of the time after i draw something and it really demotivates me, i always think to myself “whats the point of drawing all of this when no one would care about it that much and would probably only look at it for 3 seconds”

the most recent drawing i had the most fun on was when i redrew a simple design's line art a few times and just used the WORST, ugliest color palettes i could find to color it in, i had so much fun i made them an actual reoccurring character i'm keeping, whose every aspect changes color for unknown reasons, resulting in just unpleasant palettes

I'm a big fan of picking out the stuff I like in other artists' art (e.g. colour palettes, shape language etc.) and then combining them all into mine, it feels like a fun experiment Another thing I like to do to see if I've improved is redrawing old art, it's a good confidence boost if I'm feeling particularly down

Just this week I started a sketchbook for just doodles and random art for no particular reason so I can have fun. There’s no purpose other than to make pretty colors or slap paint down or scribble with markers and I’ve left no room for perfectionism to sabotage me. I’ve had art block connected to my ptsd for years, and I’m proud to say I’ve drawn 4 days in a row! Brilliant video!! I think it’s important to reemphasize the importance of your statement on posting “ugly art”. I would strongly encourage posting it. There’s something freeing about showing off something you’ve been really vulnerable in the creation of, and just, stepping back and allowing it to be in the limelight. It builds so much confidence in what you do, as it strips away the anxiety you’d have making the art in the first place. It deserves to exist and exist OUT THERE because YOU made it. Not because it looks good, or could make you look good, but because it shows off you and your journey as an artist, and holds no shame about it, which is EXACTLY what every artist needs. Shame is what I think holds back a lot of our greatest potentials.
