Just popped over here from the "storm" movement in Beethoven's 6th, to compare it with Sibelius' blizzard that picks up ferocity around 11:30

That ending is so sublime: harmony at rest, one long note giving its last breath, then falling into the tonic for a complete resolution. Fantastic piece!

During WW II, when the Russians launched an offensive against the Germans, they would play the 1812 Overture to the sound of their artillery firing.

I loved this, when I was a kid, and even more as an adult. The entire thing, but when the end hits, roughly at 29:13, it's like the victorious ending to the most profound animated movie. It's the "Everybody United" sound. I just smoked a joint, but even when I'm sober, I love it. 😊

a personal problem with arrangements for orchestra or piano is that such arrangements takes out a whole chunk out of my imagination. having said that, the dramatics displayed was captivating; thanks for the upload.

I do not know any other classical melody of any length that is more famous, more beloved and more exalted than this one. People who have never listened to a classical melody will come to concerts playing this great music, and their feelings will be exalted with the cannons roaring and the great bells ringing and the choruses singing out at the end. May this great piece of music always be played throughout the world until the end of time.
