That’s a good idea if you have those bricks available. Though I would recommend a couple of reinforcements on your side pieces since they’re so long they’ll likely buckle very quickly

You also need to read the bit where it says not to do this in metal as it rust the mental and can give them some type of metal poisoning.

I did this but doubled the height and it’s perfect. Put 2x8’s of wood and then a piece of 1x1 around it and it fits fine, granted it’s a lil loose but it works lol. But I had to use the 1x1 to fill in the gap in the blocks, so I guess each block is like 4.5 inches tall? Anyway. It’s held up great for 6 months now and was super cheap and easy.

I am just going to begin to compost and I thought we could do fruit and vegetable peels? As i keep studying and eesearching i understand we need to turn it every three days and everytime we add something in it. Are these the steps you took. What are you doing different? I am just loooking to learn as I break into the compost making process. TIA

I also have a tumbler and haven't had any problems with avocado, orange, lemon or lime peels.

If you're wanting to use your compost in a quick timely fashion and you have a compost tumbler then you have to keep spinning often. Now let's say you purchased some European nightcrawlers or some type of worms that love to eat compost stuff, and to help break down everything in your compost, then that would be the way to go. Or put your compost on the ground and let the earthworms come up into your compost to help speed up the process

The thicker the peel, the longer it'll take to break down as it applies to avocado peels take a long time. I've never had an issue with citrus peels not breaking down. I've been told not to "overwhelm" your compost with citrus or highly acidic elements because it will effect the microorganisms but the bigger the pile, the more it can handle.

Why would you put that together and not fill it with soil? I guess since it’s only one level and you didn’t use rebar you can pick it up and move it if you change your mind but those plants are virtually going to be the exact same with or without that 5 inch wood barrier around it.

Love your message. We call our Farm 'Change of Pace Farmstead' which is a constant inside joke because the public perception of the slow pace of the lifestyle and slowing down and moving to the country...where in reality we're 300x busier than ever before since starting this venture lmao.
