I moved out to rural Arizona 4 years ago, my only option at the time was starlink if I wanted decent speeds. after not even 6 months the monthly cost went from $99 to $120. on top of that the speeds were slowed, I looked into other options including 5G, I ended up going with Verizon Home 5G. best decision! its $35mo, and the speeds are 3x Starlink..
@watsup1350Ай бұрын
@@the_desert_dweller When my Starlink worked (all 5, count them, 5 months in duration) it worked well, except for the occasional satellite skip. My only real complaint was that when I needed their input as to why my service had been cut off by them, I never could figure out how to get to pay any attention to my situation. Since Verizon and US Cellular use the same towers in most places, I can understand how and why their product is working well for you. Here’s hoping our good luck continues!!

Plug it into a laptop and run a speed test.
@watsup1350Ай бұрын
@@sptrader6316 I’m going to do a follow-up on this in about a week. That’ll give the equipment time to settle in and get past its own start up hiccups. On the surface, though, it’s far faster than using my Iphone 15’s hotspot feature with none of the speed throttling I would get on that. It also has none of the sattelite skips that Starlink was still suffering last spring. I have had 2 roku tvs and 2 Iphone 15’s streaming at the same time with no buffering issues being obvious even at that level of activity. About the only real difference I’m seeing this early into the experience that KZbin video uploading on this is somewhat noticeably slower than Starlink. But it is faster than the Iphone hotspot can handle it.

I pay for unlimited data from Verizon and then tether it to my computer using an app. Then I have a backup Tmobile 5g router. 130gb for $20/month. That gives me wifi for monitoring devices when my phone isn't around. That's $120/month total. I don't know why people pay for a phone and then pay for home internet when you can use your phone as a cellular router.
@watsup1350Ай бұрын
Two things, at least on US Celular phones (not talking about the new router here) a) Hardwire Tethering data usage is charged to my hotspot account so I get no advantage direct wiring that way for my laptop usage. The hotspot account has 30gb limit. b) while I can direct wire my tv to my iphone and watch my streaming services that way without a hard limit (I’m on an unlimited data plan), after about 40gb of usage they throttle back on my data speeds. video streaming, at that point buffers badly until the next billing cycle begins. So, for me, having the availibility of the dedicated new receiver-router not only works, but it also saves me from having to buy new usbc to hdmi adapterswhen the rather fragile wire in them wear out. b)

Can people afford it $ ???
@watsup1350Ай бұрын
@@hec07 Monthly pricing, compared to Starlink, is about 60% at this one’s normal charge. However, I will be getting this for about 35% because of the price promotion in effect when I signed up. The promotion proce will run for 36 months total. Upfront, there was a charge of about 65 bucks for sales tax and connection fees. So, both price points were far better than my experience with Starlink.

If you use a 1 or a 2 inch putty blade and clean most of the grass out first and then hose it off lot less messy.

The tree at 24:31 is probably: Washington Hawthorn grows at a medium rate to 25’-30’ tall with a 25’ spread. White late spring flowers are followed by 1⁄4” glossy red fruits that stay on the tree into winter. Leaves are reddish-purple when emerging, changing to dark green in summer, then to orange, scarlet, or purple in fall. The slender stems have thorns. This tree has a high wildlife value.

Hello Dot!! Those 2 trees that I introduced tonight are now somewhat a mystery to my memory. As I recalled them, the one that's all knarled is definitely some kind of hawthorne, and, while walking down to those trees, I was thinking they were of the same variety. Plainly, they're not. And, if you're right that the second one (the one with the white flowers) is another type of hawthone, I'm very okay with that! I'm just amazed that either one of them are flowering trees. They're both Arbor Day Foundation trees, so maybe I'm doing something right. Must not be much though, because I think we ordered 3 sets of 10 trees each, and only have 3 trees to show for the investment! :-)

Hey Joe, I didn't realize that you lived in Iowa. I'm sure you mentioned it at some point in your FB posts, but it went right over my head like most things do these days. Where do you live in relationship to Lovilia, Iowa. That's where my great great grandparents, Henry and Mary Bussell Hittle lived and where they are buried. I'm glad we didn't get the cold snap you all got in Iowa here in southern Missouri. It's cold out, but not enough to freeze new growth. Looking forward to watching all of these videos since I'm stuck in the house until it warms up some.
