I often think the same, who will care for my grandson the way he needs to be cared for. Im the only one who understands him at three since his parents dont want to accept his Autism. It hurts. But you're doing great and just believe in your higher power 🙏itll work out in your favor

My three year old grandson does exactly the same thing😊. As soon as his feet hit the floor in the morning, its off to the races. My son is in denial that he needs to be evaluated and tested. But im his full time caregiver 24 hours a day, so i watch his behavior, i nitice EVERYTHING but my son doesnt like the fact that i know and he gets mad at me when i try to talk to him about seeing a doctor

There are a lot of children labeled autistic today. The government does give financial help to families with austistic children if they fit within their guidelines. I wonder about that sometimes? Once there is a diagnosis the money starts coming in. Our money, the taxpayers. Everything shown in this video I've seen in all toddlers. Makes me wonder about validity? I saw a family on here with four autistic children. I would have thought good idea to stop at two.

I get zero government cash for this and in fact had to leave my successful career to stay home and care for her. Severe autism is a SIGNIFICANT disability and isn’t diagnosed out of nowhere. This video was years ago and she’s very much still autistic today, developmentally delayed and requires speech therapy, occupational therapy and behavioural therapy as well as a level of supervision that goes well above normal. Most families struggle to access any therapy funding or programs and depending on location none may be available at all. Waitlists are years long and many of our kids will never be able to live independently. This life is hard. It’s not a money train it’s a money DRAIN. Your comment is not only wrong but insulting and misinformed.

Special educator here. You will face challenges BUT you can do this. I’ve worked with autistic children since 1971 and have had some wonderful experiences. Observing how it is they adapt and process information, witnessing the hidden intelligence and the joy they can bring has been eye-opening. I send prayers and encouragement to both of you. Enjoy your little girl. Love her. Create great memories together.

The board should be stationary and not held to voice facilitator influence. Kids can learn to spell and write and type without physical manipulation by anyone. I hope that there isn't an avalanche of sexual abuse allegations made through this as they were through facilitated communication. I saw wonderful parents who were completely innocent accused of sexually abusing their kids.

I saw your video and cried alot ..... I have autistic brother...iam from india ,he is an introvert and 35yrs old.I have three boys who loves him so much and also understands what autism is all about. ...but the sad part is my bro n law's (husband's younger brother) son is hyper active and i noticed that he did have the signs of autism when he was 9 months....the first thing was not responding or reacting to his name when its been called around 10 to 15 times.....i was in doubt but still knew many things about autism and tried to watch the child closely.... I noticed every single signs related autism because he was so hyperactive and wasn't acting normal at all.....when i mentioned this to my kids they understood....but my husband couldn't....😢i kept crying and directly went to the childs mom and said that she need to consult a Doctor...she refused...and said tht her child is normal

My son is soon 19 and recently began communicating via spelling to communicate! He is nonspeaking and has used augementative communication since he was in kindergarten with increasing success but we were still limited to his requests about food choices, where he wants to go, and a couple of feelings he expressed (happy, sad). But in just the last week I have discovered he can spell and answer questions about information I have verbally provided but better yet about himself! I have learned his favourite colour is purple and that he can confirm when he has had a seizure when we are sometimes unsure if he had one. He can tell us why he likes certain sensory things like the sound of velcro or that certain shows help him feel calm. It is nothing short of a bonafide miracle and it costs almost nothing and I have learned from books and youtube. It is not smoke and mirrors it is simple and it works.

It’s important to understand apraxia/dyspraxia to understand it’s a motor issue. Yes, just like anything anyone learns in the beginning is prompted but those prompts are faded out. It is also a motor hierarchy so the boards change over time while building motor skills. When the motor progresses overtime they can and do type on keyboards or touchscreens to communicate with the end result of independence. Depending on sensory profile some might need a person to say focus, finish your sentence due to distraction with attention etc. However at this stage nobody is holding a board/ keyboard for them or giving any letter prompts. This is actually very different than Facilitated Communication (FC)

The facilitator teaches you how to assist your own child. You are not pushed to continue going to a facilitator. Lessons are free online and you can buy the boards. You can actually learn online and not pay anyone. Check out Elizabeth Breen nonverbal valedictorian who set up a nonprofit website to instuct parents to facilitate their own children.

Hi. May I please ask? Your child spoke perfectly in that 3 years or that's when she started learning? I'm worried mine is turning 3 in two months but she only know some words but cannot construct a sentence. I'm scared to get her examined

@@mmathapeloangel7992 Why are you scared? I got my child examined so that she could receive help. My daughter would say words here and there at the age of three but wouldn't didn't speak in sentences until she was 4 . She's 24 now. Once she started talking ,she perfected the English language. Throughout school she was play writing..lol. I hate when she corrects my grammar. lol..Please get your child examined because if it is autism you can start intervention. She might be like my daughter who just needed to be around other children in a school like setting early.

I had a speech delay and didn't eat mainly because I had tonsillitis and constant ear infections. Once the tubes in my ears were put in and tonsils were taken out, that took care of the speech delays and eating problems. I went to speech class, but also once you are around kids a lot like in preschool or a day care, that helps out a lot as well. At least now you can get to your kids early with therapy thanks to videos like this and getting to see the doctor to set up a plan if they are diagnosed as autistic.
