This was awesome! Love finding vids like this. I'm starting to get into 3d animation(I've been a 3d generalist for Abt 2 1/2 yrs,)how did you get your start in animation? I find it hard but Intriguing

The best advice I can give for animation is, use references. I completed a couple of KZbin tutorials to get a grasp of blenders controls but after that it’s just a case of practice I think. By use references I mean, get a video of something you want to copy. Walk cycles are popular. Find someone dancing for a challenge 😅. When animating I start from the feet/waist and then work my way up. I don’t think I do things properly though 😅. Whenever there’s a change, it’s a key frame. When it comes to game animations it looks like they focus on pose to pose. So everything is keyframed at the same time every 5 or so frames. Or however many is needed. Don’t forget to check out 12 principles of animation. But don’t get hung up on ticking them all off at the same time. Oh and I don’t know about everyone else but it takes me ages. I like to think it takes everyone else a while too as to not feel discouraged 😅

For my course graphic programming im also making crash bandicoot, but i'm having trouble finding the resources for the game. i wanted to do the first level. You have any tips on how to get those resources? Oh you made it all yourself. Damn nice work

Yes I used bones to animate, I have a video time lapse on the process too. I created crashes armature and animation in Blender. 🙂

@@MatthewPymAnimations it works surprisingly well, but personally I think vertex animation might work wonders. Naughty Dog used vertex animation in the originals. 😅

I would love a more horror-y crash game or with a more surreal feel to it. They were going for it with Twinsanity but it was soooo unfinished. I wish they make a Twinsanity remake at some point. The way Crash is being developed right now I don't really like it. Toys for bob did a good job and stuff but kids aren't really into Crash anymore. You can remake Twinsanity and make it an absolutely legendary open world action/ horror/ platform adventure and appeal to even older audiences

Yes, for the most part. In unreal engine the blueprints for the boxes are pretty much the same. Slight differences based on different types of boxes.

Reminds me of my game design class, tho for one of my projects I did the entire environment inside unity which worked pretty well, tho you have to be very creative and open minded, especially when you create a level inside of a program like 3DS Max\Maya and such, it's interesting to see other people's aspect at making a level, tho there's always more to learn and improve, great job!

Brilliant! Love the start where you use the skeleton to pick up the model as if it's jumping into the Jak skin! Also great choice in music! Looking forward to seeing a playable version of this model and a Dexter to sit on his shoulder, some precursors to pick up and a hover bike level over some lava! Perhaps some beautifully shiny eco to collect on the way!
