That’s a bait caster, definitely not suggested for beginners they tend to tangle a lot on casts if your not good at using one, I’d start with a cheaper under 100$ spinning reel and rod setup if your just getting started

Holding her still by the tail does nothing to recoup her. Pull back and forth in long motions and it's like giving CPR if forces water through the gills on the back pull. Give five or six good pulls as far as you can reach and back to the boat and then let her go. Edit: beautiful freaking fish.

Not all the time, it isn’t good to force water at the backside of there gills, especially trout, they don’t swim backwards
