'Don't buy this generator.' That's what I'd tell my earlier self, five years ago when I thought I'd collected enough 'good reviews' to warrant "saving" money on what I thought was a simple no-nonsense generator, the Cromtech Outback. Who needs to spend two and a half times the purchase price on a Honda, I thought at the time. And, for the first three years, the Outback did what we needed it to - started, worked, allowed us to run vital needs during outages in our remote location. Then, just out of warranty, it became difficult to start. Having only run the machine 20-30 hours total over that time, used fresh petrol, housed it inside in a warm and dry environment...it just wouldn't start. Then the flood hit. Cut off for over two months, getting out of the valley to reach supplies turned from a one hour journey on dirt and C-grade roads to a two and half hour journey over four wheel drive only forestry tracks. We put the Outback into the workshop, and waited. And waited...and waited...and waited. It was the ignition coils we were waiting for and, finally, months (not days) later, the workshop got the parts in and...the Outback still wouldn't start. Turns out it was also the inverter unit that was defunct; apparently a common thing in 'cheap' generators. And a new Cromtech inverter unit would cost the same as a new generator. So, bottom line, every highly-manufactured part of the Cromtech Outback was now unrecyclable landfill, a sickening waste of resources - and our money. The workshop kindly offered me the armful of parts, still shiny, clean and barely used, or, if I preferred, they'd bin it for me. Could they not use any part of it, I asked. Nothing. It's landfill. So tell yourself now what I'd like to tell my earlier self - spend at least double the money to get a Honda or, close second best, a Yamaha. Or you could do what I did, and "save money" buying a cheap generator like the Cromtech Outback 2.4. Your call.

Avoid Crommelin ctp101 pumps. I bought two of these pumps and neither ever worked. They are cheap chinese rubbish. An absolute waste of AUD$750. Neither pump have ever moved water despite priming them, gravity feeding water into them, etc. They are simply useless. I will never buy Crommelin brand items ever again. I tried to take them back but the retailer has gone into liquidation. The Crommelin agent in the next town would not honour the warranty.

This is a sales promotion video, rather than a first-use demonstration for newbies, unfortunately. As for holding that handle whilst pulling the start cord, the handle bent 30 degrees.

I'm here in the USA, where can I purchase one of these harness?
@crommelinsmachinery64324 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the comment. Yes, unfortunately we only sell these in Australia. If you jump on the GTM Professional website and get in contact with them, they should be able to put you in contact with a US stockist... www.gtmprofessional.com/ In the top right hand corner of the website you can select EN for English. I'm sure the team there will be able to assist promptly.

I'd like to see you stand in front of those trees with that pot plant watering toy if they were really on fire. You should be ashamed of yourself to even mention the word fire and that some fool may actually buy that toy and confront a fire with it. Then you'd cost that family their father for your bottom line $$$
@crommelinsmachinery64324 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your comment, we value all feedback on our products and product videos. Our number one concern is the health and safety of our team and customers. This is a general purpose water transfer pump, we have only suggested it could be utilised for spot fires only, if the need arose. If you require a fire fighting pump, we have a purpose built range which you can view at www.crommelins.com.au. If you’d like to discuss this matter or product further please contact [email protected]
@Roadsaftyslowdown4 жыл бұрын
@@crommelinsmachinery6432 Your pump is barely capable of washing the car Q: what comes shortly after the spot fires? A: wall of Flipping Flame. Australia desperately needs to stop the use and term fire pump for these toys, even on a 1000L skid in a ute it should be minimum 20hp and high pressure piston pump and lance. It's only a matter of time before some switched on lawyer drags all you toy pump manufacturers through a world of hurt after some fool is overwhelmed by Flame after taking your advice talking about 6hp as a fire pump. People please for your families sake don't buy any fire pump under 20hp that supplies less than 700L/minute at 100 psi and ideally 150psi. None of this Max flow and Max pressure rubbish they like to talk.
@CarmenBonkalot3 жыл бұрын
This is a great point, these sorts of pumps are not for fire fighting. At best some light mop up. But as others have pointed out, If you're going to try and use that to put out anything serious you'll be in trouble.
