I watched this game from some youtuber for the first time when I was 12. Now I am 17 and actually understand that the characters are speaking actual languages. I didn't speak anything aside of my native language and English, but now I've studied French and can also somehow understand the German.

At 2.30, I don’t have a log! Where can I find one? I’m stuck without it.

You can get the log from behind the wall at the side of the house. After you throw it to save the girl from the dogs, you have to collect it again behind the bushes, that should do it.
