Many of the visitors who record these travel logs miss out on a lot of Ireland i.e. Connemara, Clifden, Mayo, Westport, Croagh Patrick. Sligo, Benbullben Donegal, Slieve League cliffs. Go West and North. Do more of the Wild Atlantic Way and it's well worth it! The Midlands of Ireland are beautiful also. Pastoral, lovely green fields, castles etc.

Oh my goodness this is sick!!! One area I hope they improve is the casting of shadows. Especially in the clouds. I can’t imagine how difficult that is to reproduce but would be cool and make this experience even more real.
@BradySkye14 күн бұрын
Yes!! I completely agree. Rendering clouds in general is a very heavy task. It's incredible how far all of the simulators have come with that. The shadows on the ground look great though. For example, when you were flying in WWII you were usually never alone - so everyone would help each other out by making sure their gear went up and is "clean." Otherwise, if you have a malfunction and your gear does come all the way up, you would be slower because it creates drag. But what if you are alone, and there is no wingman to help tell you if your gear went up after takeoff? One indication is the sound of it, or your airspeed, or even the feel of it flying a bit different. But one that I use often is checking my shadow on the ground in the sun. In the right angle, lower to the ground, you can see if your wheels are up or not by looking at your shadow : )

If it was really WWii...you guys wouldn't make it. Indecisive. Defense only approach for the most part. Look up the words aggressive and fast. 😉😄
@BradySkye18 күн бұрын
A lot of this is not really WWII for many many reasons, but it is as real as it gets for simulation. IL2 and War Thunder don't compare for realism. The goal is never to go into a fight with a disadvantage. In real life, a smart P51 pilot who wants to survive and not die would run from being outnumbered and never look back. In the simulator many people take more risks than they would in real life because they're not actually going to die. Also, there is no telling who would "make it" in WWII and I don't think that's up to anyone in 2024 to decide, but you are welcome to have your opinion.
@davehutchins282018 күн бұрын
@@BradySkye I think blind luck had a lot to do with surviving the WWII air war. However, being outnumbered was usually the rule in Europe till the last 6 to 9 months of the war. I grew up listening to our WWII veteran pilots telling their experiences in person and have been a devotee to the WWII airwar since the 1940's when I was born. You should be more aggressive, single out your victim and go for it. Flying around waiting for things to develop isn't how you shoot down ME109s. Remember that you're in a P51. You have the advantage not them.
@BradySkye18 күн бұрын
Totally respect your opinion and knowledge and I have extensive conversations about this with other pilots and it really depends on who comes in with the energy advantage and plays it right. You are not going to have a good chance of gaining an advantage over a 109 when they are higher and faster. The P51 can technically out turn them at certain altitudes but it takes at least 3 rotations against a good pilot, and how much fuel you have is another factor involved, etc. it comes down to a scientific level and physics. There are some incredible books on the science of dogfights. I am actually quite aggressive when I have energy advantage but being too aggressive is how you get shot down. And a lot of the kills in WWII were pilots who didn’t know anyone was on their six. Being aggressive works until you run into a good 109 pilot with an energy advantage. Come fly in Project Overlord and try it out.

You should land on the 1000 feet markers as opposed to the numbers. That displaced threshold is there for a reason (presumably that highway)! Pretend that the runway before the displaced threshold doesn't exist, because you can't land on it, and you will see that you are very low. Additionally, to exit the runway you have to stop past the dashed line as opposed to before it like you did. Apart from this, you're great!

My first solo was 40 years ago a month after getting my driver's licenses. It was in N4721B. I had about 11 hours and a lot of touch and goes. We had did three touch and goes and my instructor asked me if I was ready. He got out at the end of the runway and I took off. I did three touch and goes. It cost $35 and hour and somewhere life got in the way and I never finished. I am in the process at 56 with diabetes to get my PPL. I can't believe how much it cost but then it is 40 years later.

Late to the game here. Got my PPL maybe about 15 years ago but stopped flying due to life, expenses etc. forgot a lot. BUT when I was taught how to fly - we did not use GPS. Had to use VOR ded- reckoning and paper charts. If there was a tech failure you need to know how to figure out where you are without GPS- at the time it was taken positions of VOR radials. Not sure if that’s still taught

Fantastic! How did you get the replay footage from DCS? Whenever I go into replays with DCS, it hangs or acts wonky. Also, this video is fantastic and what I wish I could make with my own stuff.
@BradySkyeАй бұрын
Hey thanks so much. Glad you are enjoying the channel! I just love making these for myself and it’s really nice to hear from those who share the same passion for this kind of flying. The DCS replays are really hit or miss, especially with the recent issues with the WWII stuff that Eagle Dynamics is trying to solve. Not all replays are going to work, and some may even have de-sync issues where you have a wheel down that wasn’t actually there or a canopy open that wasn’t actually open when flying. Things like that. Just try to keep your sorties shorter and “leave server” properly. Then open them up in the mission editor and turn external views on for “all” then resave the track and see if it works. There’s a lot to it. Email me at [email protected] if you want more help and to learn more. Bottom line is the replay feature is not perfect right now, and some of mine don’t work, and some do.
