I wasn’t a huge Courtney fan, but I do think her eating disorder storyline was well done.

Another funny thing that we don't see on UK Soaps is seeing folks washing the Dishes, they are always on a Dishrack but not being put away. I sometimes wonder if this Storyline was the inspiration for The McKade Brothers by Nora Roberts. Although they were Farmers you didn't see them actually work. If you sent The snyders to Emmerdale to work on the Sugden Farm, in the UK, they'd go nuts.

Don't you notice that more action took place in the Kitchen with the Snyder Family. In the Uk Soaps were originally known as Kitchen Sink Drama because most of the action took place in The Kitchen. It was like that with The Hughes Family in the 1960's. The young lady coming downstairs has a eerie vibe to it, it's like the old school back cover of Flowers In The Attic, also the Door had a similar look on Guiding Light with The Reardons Boarding House.

Thanks for this missing link. It seems to be catfight day in Oakdale, with Kim vs. Susan and Barbara vs. Shannon. It’s lovely that Kim advised Sabrina to drive on the right side of the street. Susan’s hold over married men is already taking shape. The foreshadowing of Seth’s folly with the Hughes sisters is subtle.

Thank you again for getting more of these Marland-era treasures available. 1991 is an interesting bridge as it steadily builds up the much darker elements that would be present in his final year and a half as headwriter.

Thanks! What a wonderful treat as some parts of this period are so difficult to find. ATWT was definitely on a full head of steam around 86-87. I love that Susan and Kim spat. Susan saying she did a lot of things wrong but never slept with her sister's husband. Kim's utterly perfect reply: "Only because you didn't have a sister."

Thanks. This was such a strong storyline, one that hooked me at the time. I appreciate seeing more of the aftermath and a reminder of some of Marland's best work. I love how Lucinda was written in this story - hurt, betrayed, but not cartoonish. She knew she had gotten reckless and had to take a step back, but in the end still wasn't going to let them keep her down. So many layers. Liz Hubbard was one of a kind.

If I'm not mistaken Lucinda eventually became inspired to start a new corporation "Worldwide Enterprises" ...

I think part of the reason I never bought this Lily recast was Heather played Lily like a 20 year old ingenue when she looked a lot older. I think Rattay was 28 around this time. They should’ve celebrated a birthday without a specific number- but they kept harping on her being 21. 🙄
