I really enjoyed this video! One big lesson I took away is just how crucial it is to have a great team when building a website. Even the fanciest tools can’t save a site if the content is just filler like "lorem ipsum." Also, it surprised me how often companies underestimate the importance of clear, meaningful content. It’s not just about looks; it’s about really connecting with visitors. Plus, I realized that communication within the team makes a huge difference. When everyone’s on the same page, it really shows in the end product. Thanks for sharing these insights!

New Sub. I don't know what or where to begin to find the truth about my career earnings. I pray for any information of parents who keep their child's earnings AND any information on stocks, shares, accounts in their child's name. I'm very grateful for your channel to appear in the video suggestions. Idk if it's different how to begin to find out, if there's a difference between Canada and u.s procedures, and yes: the difference between being a spouse and a Child lol. Prayers for All. Thank You again.

Hello! I recently started a financial services firm with my business partner, and this episode, and series, could not have come at a better time. I am looking forward to the rest of the episodes and learning more about the process! Here are some questions I have: - In the initial start-up phase, business insurance is also crucial to have in place. Can you talk more about the types of business insurance someone should have? - I believe in one of your earlier episodes you've talked about types of software that are out there for data analysis. Are there any out there that are good for start-ups and are scalable as you grow your business? - I feel this might be a silly question, but can you elaborate more on who your client is and what the relationship is like? If I understand correctly, an attorney will come to you with their client who may need help in finding hidden assets in a divorce dispute. Does the attorney become your client? Or is the individual your client and are they making the retainer deposit directly to you/your firm? - In this first episode, Leah said that to investigate fraud in the state of Oklahoma, you have to be a PI, CPA, or attorney. That was a complete shock to me! What exactly constitutes "investigating fraud" and am I breaking the law by advertising services that entail fraud investigations if all I have is a CFE credential? (Though, I'm already convinced now to get my CPA license) - What is the one piece of advice you wish someone had given you when you were first starting your business? I appreciate you all dedicating your time to these podcast episodes. They truly have been a joy to listen to and I learn so many things in each one. Hayley Ray, CFE

I have one for you : take out a commission on every sale (say around 5%) and book it on a fake "investment" account (called "participation") as an equity on the balance sheet. Wait 10 years (conveniently the statute time limitation for fiscal fraud in my country) . Then after 10 years distribute theses "commissions" to the owner. It would be a rolling distribution where you pay off these parts only after 10 years waiting time. It is in fact an undeclared and disguised profit distribution : no personal tax and no business tax, and if you get caught nobody can say anything because owner waited 10 years before self-distribution, so that would be coverered under the statute limitation term. It's a win-win. I discovered that in my last gig, and didn't stay longer than 3 weeks when I asked to owner "if this scheme had been approved by tax authorities" when he asked me to pay off the n-10 years amount of "commissions" lol.

Wow! So this is great insight into how one can chest using the Double Entry system! If you aren't paying careful attention to the labels attached to the numbers under the Debits and Credits then you will not detect fraud for the numbers would balance out.

The so-called war on drugs was, in reality, a war on drug dealers, excepting, of course, the CIA, when it participated in drug smuggling in support of arms purchases for the contras. Drugs will continue to be a part of the human experience. It is a matter of dealing with their most adverse consequences.

Really helpful information. Some of this stuff I already knew, but it gives me confidence to hear it from Leah. And then... some of this stuff I did not know!! Sometimes in the past I've just listed all the unknowns and counted on the attorney to know what to subpoena, but with these new details I can make more specific requests of the attorney, for the bank. Can ghost employees affect the weekly labor / scheduling? So in my situation, theres a handful of 'coworkers' who left the job to a different company entirely, yet they are still on payroll. One would think that more hours would open up but instead of hours opening up, they minimized down tremendously. Another note, we use ESS app to see scheduling and approve timecards etc, on the app, it shows that there are 13 shifts available, and when i asked my store manager about it to pick up more hours since hes only scheduling me 10hrs a week now, he said that the app is wrong and no other shifts are available. Could that be true regarding the app? and could the 'ghost employees' who dont even work there anymore be affecting the labor enough to justify the shortening of hours per week? I live in arizona as well. After bringing this up to my store manager, he has reduced my weekly time from 16-24 hrs a week down to 10hrs a week ever since i brought it up. Ive been with the company for over a year now, never had a review, no annual raise, and no vacation time reflecting after my year anniversary. Needless to say my store manager takes 1-2 week vacations every 1-2 months. Everytime the district manager comes down, im never scheduled to address my concerns. I dont know what to do other than seek another job, which is tough these days.
@LeahWietholter2 жыл бұрын
While we've never worked with this app directly, it is possible this could affect other employees' scheduling. We would recommend reporting this to your company's ethics hotline (hopefully they have one!) or HR to get this concern to the right people in your organization.

Question: would Forensic Accountant be a part of this type of investigation also? And if so, how?
@LeahWietholter2 жыл бұрын
Great question! In some cases, there may be funds that were intended to be spent on residents that were spent elsewhere, and a forensic accountant could identify and quantify that misappropriation. Or there may be economic damages in connection with a case that a forensic accountant would be able to calculate.

The Big Con by David Maurer was lauded as the textbook on the confidence game by Elmore Leonard. It was cited in an ACM article on internet scams that noted the long tradition and common traits (e.g. false urgency, appeal to authority). Published in 1940, the book was written by a linguistics professor whose will specified his notes be destroyed to protect his confidential sources. (no pun intended)
